Tennis in Oklahoma City

One of my best friends and my favorite hitting partner is moving to Oklahoma. He just came back from looking for a place to live there and mentioned he couldn't find any tennis courts. Anyone got a few suggestions? He's pretty frugal guys and believe tennis courts should be free (as do i).

I can help him out

I live in Oklahoma, about 40 minutes from Oklahoma city. I can tell him everything there is to know about OKC tennis. Have him send me an email.

What level of player is he?

I dont understand the "purpose of a national 3.0 tourney. What's the point? Its the equilavalent of the special olympics.

I'll be in Oklahoma City starting in August '09 and will be there about 4 months. I'm a 4.5 to 5.0 player and hoping to find someone that I can hit with.

If you want public courts check out the OKC tennis center (in the Penn Square area). I think there are about 20 outdoor courts (with lights) there. If you are looking for a private club, you might check out The Greens.

No problem. I'm up in tulsa or I'd ask you to hit. I know plenty of solid 4.5 to 5.0 players in the OKC area though. Best bet is to call the Greens and tell them you are new in town and looking to possibly join the club (whether you are or not is beside the point). Ask them if they can sett up some hitting sessions with a 4.5 to 5.0 player (Dan Smith is a solid singles player and I think Randy Robinson is a pro there - he is solid 5.0)

Have fun!

Love the screen name - every time I see a post by you I think of a hitting partner I have who sounds exactly like Dr Doofenshmirtz. My kids want me to ask him to record our answering machine message.

Thanks! Dr. Doof is awesome. I have 3 and 5 year old boys who love Phineas and Ferb, and I have to admit that I will happily plop down on the couch between them and watch!

I live in Moore (just south of OKC) and i play at Earlywine. It's not so bad, if you are going to live around that area, i could give you more information

No, no, no! This comment is showing everything that is wrong with this game. 3.0 level players are what holds tennis in America together. I know they say there are more 3.5 players than anything so understand that they are trying to get to 3.5 and rightfully deserve everything good in this sport.
A great crew of people and players-3.0!

(I know you are a pro on tour, huh?)

I wouldn't be throwing around the term "Special Olympics" in such a manner when you put your spelling skills on display for the whole world to see.
3.0 is the grass roots level of this sport we all love. If the lower levels were eliminated from the sport we all couldn't feel so superior could we.

I hate to revive a really old thread.. but do I have any fellow Okies that might want to hit? I'm close to a 3.0, I've only been playing for a couple of months.
