Fake Vapors on the bay?

Hey guys and gals, I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of sellers peddling fake shoes on the bay? I am trying to get as many Vapor VIs as I can and saw a few on there but didn't want to pull the trigger if you all have heard of bootlegged shoes on there.

I have not heard of fake Vapors. Obviously there a LOT of fake Nike Air Max, Nike Air Jordan, even Lebron signature shoes, but I haven't seen any fake Nike Tennis shoes on there. The fakes usually stick out pretty badly, like a colorway you have never seen before.

I saw a few at a suspicious price too...
But I think there are fake Vapors out there. I was browsing around this fake shoe site (I'm a true Nike SB shoehead btw), and saw that they posted Vapors VIs.

Awe hell!!! What was different about them? Weird colorways or a misplaced Swoosh or something not so easily noticeable?

Yeah i would love to know as well. How can you tell the fakes from the real ones??

I got some vapor VI's from the Bay and now you've got me worried.

In Vietnam here we have like tons of them (fake Vapors type I) and from reports, even when you put them next too a genuine one, there's almost no way to identify. Unfortunately and understandably, the differences were expressed dramatically on the court and after 3 days - husband (sole) one place, wife (remaining parts) another.

Talk about it! I just finished a trip going to Vietnam to meet some family. I went to the markets, and my gosh! Just fakes everywhere!

They make be fake, but they do have a really good resemblance.

For the Vapor VI. Make sure the MATERIAL is true! As I've seen with most fake shoes, the material is a much cheaper kind. Check the FIT FRAME! Make sure it's glittery. Apparently I saw a few that weren't. Check the INSOLE! On the heel, it should say ZOOM AIR. Also, make sure the insole was sewn to the shoe. My Vapors had stitched soles. Check the FLYWIRE! Make sure it's not just some cheap stitching that those guys did. It has to have some kind of definition. And make sure it has TAGS! I remember my Vapors coming with a tag that endorsed its XDR outsole. And check the OUTSOLES!! Make sure it feels true, and you can actually see that plastic shank in the middle.

Fakes are still poorly made- of course they're not going to be made with the same material or cushioning as the real ones. 98% you can tell by the codes imprinted in the shoe, the glue smell, the sole mold etc, the colors.

On the Bay- if one seller is selling tons at an odd price- dead give away. There are some sites on the net that can help.

Also in one of the threads here someone posted- what they thought were real vapors- and they were fake- you could spot the difference

Apparently they do exist!

The insole inside my oreo Vapors is not sewn to the shoe. I'm pretty sure they are not fake though, everything else seems very high quality.

Anyone else with Oreo's that can see if their insole is sewn in?

i think he meant if you take out the foot insole, the zoom air unit is sewn into the heel of the shoe

Those seem to be a different design - so I'm going to call fake on those ones.

1 - the toe guard on the 'Shanghai' Vapours joins with the inside guard (which goes up to the first lacing hole) but doesn't on any of the other genuine versions released.

2 - The material on the inside of the heel on the 'Shanghai' Vapours continues out and around the outside of the shoe - but doesn't on the genuine ones.

3 - the strip between the shoe upper and sole on all the other versions (black coloured on the Us Open model shown on the left above) doesn't appear to be there on the Shanghai version... If it is there but just white then it is still different to every other genuine colourways' strip which all are in a shiny, not matt, finish.

Great observations!!! I hate that those red ones are fake because they are pretty slick.

I posted the "Shanghai" Vapors, because I didn't think the "overseas" market had dipped into replicating tennis shoes, but found those. They ARE FAKES, not real, not unreleased samples, not upcoming colorways. They are being sold on an wholeseller website that sells fake Jordans, Air Max's, Nike SB's the whole shabang. So definitely fake. Didn't mean to confuse anyone, or get anyone's hopes up.

Oh, for sure. I was just showing the really obvious bits I noticed that were different to the legit ones.

Also - the top lacing hole - they don't have the see-through bit like all the other ones do. Forgot to mention that (circled in my photo above also)
