Yonex RDiS 100 Mid

Guys, I was happily drifting in TW online store and fell for this racquet, because of the price (http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/Yonex_RDiS_100_Mid/descpageRCYONEX-IS100.html). I have always wanted to play with a Yonex (don't even know why...) but never got the opportunity. So I bought that one.

What should I expect?

Bear in mind that I am a longtime Wilson user: Ultra 2, PS 6.0, Ultra Kevlar (one of the best racquets I've ever used), PS 5.1 Stretch, K-Factor 6.1 Tour, and now Asian BLX Pro Tour.

Solid, stable racket. Nice feel. In my case, I played some time with the Midplus and still have it. Nonetheless, my opinion is that these rackets suit more a playing style where the person hits flat or a "drive" type topspin.

In my case I like to brush the ball alot for topspin and the Aeroprodrive suits more that style.

Sounds cool. I'm more of a "drive" type top spinner myself. I hope I'll enjoy the stick. Plan to string it with a comfortable multi like Wilson Sensation, 58lbs just to start :)

It's a great frame, one of my favourites. Played with the mid for about 3 months, but it is demanding it has less power than the wilsons 6.1, but in my opinion better feel and confort.

Imho, Yonex's are way better at 2HBH than 1HBH. The sweetspot isnt as like sweet compared to others but it is bigger. A 1HBH needs a really "sweet" sweetspot to operate.

Well I have a 1hbh and always had issues with Yonex 98 frames but never with the rqis 1 tour or the rdis 100 mid.
In fact IMO the rqis is one of the sweetest frames for 1hbh.
In frames like the rdis 100 mp or the rds001 mp I tend to hit late as if I couldn't move the racquet's head as fast as needed but both feel incredible on the forehand side.

I agree. Solid, stable, good plow-through. It's a great weapon to go against big hitters.
True. Great for flat hitter. You can generate good spin with it though.
It's a stiff frame. Although i feel it's a bit more flexier than k factor 6.1 tour ver. asia.

The sweetspot is quite big. Bigger than 6.1 tour. IMHO, Almost as big as aeropro drive.
I use 1HBH. And it's great.
I am in the process of switching to 2HBH. I don't notice any difference on the sweetspot side.

Well, this is my subjective opinion. :)

This is the racquet I use and I love it. For such a small frame its great on the serve and very crisp volleys even on balls with pace. Big sweetspot on the baseline.

btw; I have pretty loops groundstrokes and brush the ball and the spin is great, not just for flat hitters. I do have some issues sometimes keeping the ball deep but I think that was due to the strings not the racquet

Couple of points on RDiS mid
- It's sensitive to String set up (tension and string type). Frame is stiff which others have complaint to be too powerful or too boardy. You will have to experiment - once you got it dialed in you'll definitely enjoy this frame
- Grip size. I own several models of Yonex, I found the RDiS grip to be a size larger than what's stated. 3/8 felt more like a 1/2.

Grip size: for a long time I played with a 1/2, so I guess it'll be ok.
Strings: I was planning to go with Wilson Sensation 16 @ 60 lbs and work my way from there. Whaddya think?

Any of you guys added lead? I kinda got used to the idea of playing with lead @ 3 & 9. Did that on my Asian BLX 90 Tour and it felt great, most of all on serve. I am getting to serve more solid with less effort. Where I notice it the most is on my second serve that seems to be a little bit harder to get....

Wilson Sensation 16, porque nao experimenta um polyester? I'll write in English instead... poly is great, and you can string it loser than the Sensation, you'll get good control, good spin, and will be good for the arm.
When I played with the RDiS100 mid, I had lead from 3 all the way around to 9. The racket final weight was around 378gms. But if you dont like quite that heavy, start at 3 and 9 and add more if you'd like.

You should be excited, it's an amazing racket!!

Vc joga aonde em Brasilia? Academia de Tenis?

Dude, I've been playing for almost 30 years now and still don't know much about strings. :D I thought multi-filaments were the most comfortable. Does it loose more tension than poly? I thought poly were harder (less elasticity), harder on the arm? I'm even tempted to try that gut/poly setup that some of you use. We'll see how it goes with the wilson sensation. I just bought a reel, for cryin' out loud :D
Regarding the lead, from what I gathered this thread, having lead all over the head is not the best option, is it? How did it play out for you?

PS: jogo na vila planalto, algumas vezes na vila do tenis. Vc é de BSB?

I got it!!
Played with it yesterday for about an hour. It's gonna need some getting used to it. It's got more power than my blxs (stiffer) but also I felt it more stable overall. FH and 1HBH are all good but I guess I'll have to switch to poly as advised or string it a tiny bit higher with the Wilson Sensation. Volleys are solid, more so than with the BLX that is an unforgiving beast. Flat serves, when in, are a blast. Second serve is AWOL though. At least it was yesterday. Couldn't get it in for the life of me. Most were way too long, mostly when I tried to give it some spin. It was weird.
Anyway I'm liking it so far and I'm off to play with it a bit more right now. We'll see how it goes. Thanx to all of you for the advice, opinions etc. That's what makes this forum worth bearing with the trolls ;)
