despite being so consistent over the years, he cant make it to the top 4. what do u think the factor(s) that prevent him from winning titles?

He's won enough for what his talent's worth, methinks. I mean, 6 500s and 3 Masters' finals? That is very impressive considering the weak state of the top 10 today.

I'm a big Ferrer fan. First thought is his lack of height and a big serve may be the difference. Point wise, he right at the top. Again the lack of a one shot difference maker the serve can be might be the one little thing that prevents him from beating the other top guys.

he seems to be a very hardworking player though:) stamina wise, there is nobody that is better than him. in fact, during AO12, nole had a hard time catching breath against him. he can hang in a rally for a long time, but he cant finish the point. is it his strategy, precision or something else that is lacking? wondering

Man, you would have to watch Murray play to understand. I think he's one of the smarter and more well-rounded players on tour and he does have firepower when he wants it. Too bad his head is preventing him from greater achievements.

Murray has a serve he gets a lot of free points. Ferrer doesn't have this and has to work so hard for every point.

Ferrer's one of my favorite players because he works so hard...inspirational, really.

You do realise that Ferrer was ranked in the top 4 prior to the emergence of Murray?

I really like Ferrer, but not sure ... he tries so hard, yet he can't really win anything important ... love his spirit tho ...

i do realise. im not against murray. just want to know what murray, has but ferrer doesnt

I wasn't having a pop mate - just wasn't sure if you realised Daveed was a top 4 player in the past.

IMO, Murray moves better than Daveed on anything but clay. His slice and 2HBH is much better than the Spaniard's. He is 6 inches taller than Ferrer and is physically stronger. Murray's 1st serve is > Ferrer's, as are his volleys and passing shots. Murray has many more options than Daveed.

Ferru was ranked #4 in 2008 after a QF showing at the AO.
He's also earned three titles this year already.

Are you Slam-greedy?

Yes he should, but constantly crashes with the same "wall" or walls, in other words the Top 3, but he's not the only one

Guy has 8 of his 14 titles the last eight months. He's actually playing the best tennis of his life.

And this was the perfect explanation. "Murray moves better than Daveed ON ANYTHING BUT CLAY". SPOT ON! Ferrer's one chance of beating Murray regularly IS clay. Put them two on grass and it's not a contest.

Um. In terms of coordination. No. Murray does not move better than Ferrer. No way. even in terms of court positioning. Ferrer is slap-bang on the baseline taking the ball early (very similar to Hewitt). Ok on grass where Ferrer isn't comfortable he doesn't move better. But hard and clay? I'd know which footwork (not foot speed remember) I'd take.

Murray can defend better that Ferrer and can get to balls Ferrer might not because Murray's anticipation - which is the best on tour right now allows him to react quickly enough so he can get there.
