General Pro Player Discussion is the worst category on TT

So many people blindly support __ player or hate __ player. It's absolutely ridiculous; you can't even have meaningful discussions because most of your valid points are ignored or people just start insulting you.

One prime example was the thread on equal prize money. Regardless of what side you support, I saw posters calling each other "retards", "pigs", "sexists", etc. I tried to get my points across and some posters would just nitpick the irrelevant parts of my post, or repeatedly sidestep my questions.

Just had to vent.

I think I'm going to stick with some of the other sections for a while.

You do realize many of the worst offenders live to bolster their post counts and will gladly waste their time AND yours by stubbornly continuing their drivel until you give up. In many cases, it's an awkward form of adolescence they are not conquering in the real world that manifests rather easily in this quite anonymous format. Staying away only reinforces their false confidences.

It's weird because so many other sections of the forum are so great, like pretty much all the Equipment forums.

People are less emotional about their gear as compared to their icons or tour issues, although I do miss my old Yonex RD Tours. Best sticks I ever played!

It's a few posters over there that ruin it for everybody. The people that blindly support their favorites (e.g. TMF, NSK, Bulliza etc.) and those that take every chance to call people racists/sexist (thundervolley, terrastar). They just beat you to death with their 10 billion posts until you give up.

I'l stick to odds and ends where we have quality threads by people like jamin... man I miss that guys "girl advice" threads. And of course the GOAT of all threads "Best Legs on the WTA."

you over value the other parts of this forum.
The quality of the entire thing has been sinking more and more. Place used to be fun and have some solid posters. Now not so much.

the only section that is decent is the match results when you cant watch a match, and want a unique play by play. the pro gear section is decent too. but the strings/racket section is filled with posters repeating the marketing slogans. the tip section can be usefull sometimes but its mostly people talking ****.

i like it though, its my favorite forum because someone is always keeping it interesting. and i like spreading my wealth of knowledge of the game once in a while haha

When that section was removed alot of solid posters packed it up and went elsewhere. I understand why they got rid of it as it was a giant pain in the butt to deal with but alot of people seemed to have left and the sense of community here kinda went with them.

The Rant and Rave section has been closed because of polarizing posts like this. I hope this thread is deleted.

Yes, it gives the dispossessed nut jobs a place to hang out. Also seems to be the favorite section of the teenage crowd.

Look at it this way, it keeps them from polluting the rest of the board. In that sense, it serves a very useful purpose. Sort of like the marriage of a mental asylum and a toxic waste site.

Said it before, but I do nearly all my tennis discussion on another forum altogether - because of how atrocious TW is. I barely ever touch General Pro folder. Trying to cut through the trolls and blind squabblers is a nightmare.

It's a shame the people who run the forum (along with the moderators) can't see what's happening to the place.

There needs to be some ruthless mod work - grown up sensible discussion or you're banned. That sort of thing.

I don't understand why the powers-that-be aren't actively trying to improve the forum. The main tennis discussion folders resemble an online school playground these days...

I feel sorry for the few decent posters who are valiantly trying to make their voice heard. To me, TW is pretty much flatlining..

pretty much. its how it works on these sites anyways. They have ups and downs. I dont blame the mods more I blame the posters. The mods can only control whats posted not who decides to post.

The "Federer Photoshopped" thread on the board is great. A couple other picture threads there are good as well.

Everything else is pretty much a cesspool as the OP says...
