I thought Federer kept the 1 ranking no matter how the Open went???

When Federer lost in the quarters, the announcers made a big deal of saying "he will keep his number one ranking."

The ATP site clearly has Djokovic at #1 now. What's going on here?

That's the Race - Fed is still # 1 in the 52-week rankings.

But obviously Djoko has a great opportunity for YE#1.

Why are both the WTF and the Davis Cup finals two weeks earlier this year than in the past? What tournaments did they have to eliminate to be able to move them up by two whole weeks?

BP, when is the WTF ????

Nole is about 1005 points ahead of Fred in the YTD last i checked. Quite a bit to cover up. Is it likely he will cover that up considering he's defending a lot for the rest of the year. Oh wait, YTD is not affected by defending points, so any win such as WTF adds to that, right ?

i think they got rid of the week of rest before the wtf. they're also playing vienna, stockholm and moscow on the same week, whereas last year, i think they only played up to 2 events per week. so they compressed the schedule to finish earlier.
