Stringing observations

So I've been stringing on my p200 prince and noticed a couple things. After measuring the mains with string meter, the tension of the center two mains are about 5-10 lbs off reference tension. I've also noticed on my old gamma x2. This can't be normal right? I'm careful to detect any slippage by using dry erase marker on the strings and noticed none. So is it the machine?

Second, I string my crosses about 2lbs looser because I heard that helps the poly mains snap back. However with vokl cyclone and tour bite, I did not get this effect. I strung them in low 50s. How can I get this effect?

Are you measuring the mains without the crosses strung yet?

Your mains are not going to snap back unless you use some very low friction smooth strings.

no, it's not the machine.... it's due to the fact that you can't get the clamp up against the frame due to the supports at the 6 & 12 o'clock positions being in the way..... it is for this reason that I string the center two mains 5lbs tighter than all the other mains......

When you mentioned string meter, do you mean the little black device with circular shape and rotating knob? If yes, it's for measure relative tension, I'm not sure if you can use it to measure absolute tension. So, you measure it after you finish a string job, then a few weeks later, you can measure and see how munch tension have lost.

After a certain amount of tension lost, you want to restring your racket.

^^adding to that, measure the center mains without the crosses stung will give you a bad reading because of the slack at the middle of the string.

measure the center mains with the crosses installed and they will still show 5-10 lbs less than the 2 or 3 strings immediately adjacent to them....

What are some examples of this string. I've used Weiss cannon scorpion and i liked it a lot.

They used to say Prince recoil had that capability but it is not longer made. Not sure you will find any string that has no friction. Poly strings don't move as easily as other strings but I'm not sure any will 'snap' back.

Another question...

Are you suppose to compensate for the increase in tension in the mains after the crosses are strung? I strung a racquet today at 55lb reference and measured the completed job at avg of upper 60's. Interesting thing is when I ordered a new racquet from TW strung at 63 lbs, it was pretty close.

All strings move. Poly just goes back to where it was if it's still in good condition and not worn out.
