Always he is right. It is so invariable it startles him. And now it looks very much as though he may be wrong, and that upsets him. But he should not be upset, because he is right. He must be right because he is never wrong. ;)

In 2007 when it was first widely used, he hated Hawkeye and took a while to get used to the system - he was being utterly destroyed by Hawkeye in the Wimbledon Final - like taking on 2 opponents :D

Yeah his battles with hawk eye are more famous than hawk eye itself :p

i share the same sentiment. no data but just by the sheer amount of matches i watched, novak is really really good with hawkeye.

I never thought Fed was really bad at challenges, in the sense that he isn't bad at spotting where the ball went. I think he really, really often uses it purely out of frustration that he missed a certain shot or an opponent's shot went in. The way he asks for a challenge also generally sounds very irritated.

Not surprised Djokovic is that good at challenges btw.

I am still trying to comprehend the way Fed utilizes the challenge. I get the sense that most of the time, it's strategic and he has no real interest in what the video projection is going to indicate. He already knows whether it was in or out... he's buying a few seconds to work something out in his mind, or he's making his opponent think about something.

I have definitely seen him get many of these challenges wrong though. A little surprised that he is #2 there.

Haha maybe it's a subtle troll, and since he knows anyway, he's exposing the system's failings.

Has anyone else wondered whether Hawk Eye is occasionally underused? Consider the following examples:
  • An atrocious, cringe-inducing shank propels the ball 40 rows deep into the seating area. Why on God's green earth would you not challenge that? The linesman blinked is all.
  • A 140 mph laser of a serve launches off the strings and flies directly into the forecourt at the base of the net, and caroms neatly into the waiting hands of a ballkid. Little help here? Why not call for video review?
These are just off the top of my head. It seems like something is lost here though, and the quality of the product has taken an unnecessary hit.
