    Minimalist shoes for Tennis?

I'm using the New Balance Minimus 60 but don't like it very much. Just ordered the Nike Court Air Zoom Ultrafly, I'll let you know how I like those. My favorite minimalist tennis shoe was the Merrell Barefoot Road Glove (discontinued) with a homemade insole of PPT foam.

    Minimalist shoes for Tennis?

After a couple years (10 pairs) of playing in Merrell's Barefoot Road Glove, I can no longer find this excellent shoe in my size. (The successors, Road Glove 2 and 3, don't cut it.) I'm thinking about the Merrell Vapor Glove as a replacement. Has anyone given the Vapor Glove a try?

    New Graphene Prestige Pro (2014)

My initial play test was singles, last night I played dubs. Still not sure. The crisper feel is a nice change from my Youtek PP. But as others have said, this is more of a "modern" frame, demanding a faster swing and not as forgiving when you try to "plow through" the ball to guide it over...

    New Graphene Prestige Pro (2014)

Been happy with the Youtek Prestige Pro for 7 years. I use a full natural gut set up. Been demoing the Graphene and generally like the crisper feel, but the demo is strung with syn gut. Anyone try the graphene with natural gut? Also, recommended tension is quite a bit lower than the Youtek...

    Minimalist shoes for Tennis?

Are you asking about using "a shoe with slightly less cushion (gel game 3)" or about using a zero-drop shoe? Playing in a zero-drop shoe (Merrill Barefoot Road Glove) for a year now and have never twisted my ankle or knee. I'm not a podiatrist or expert, but I feel much more prone to...

Tennis.tv as replacement for Tennis Channel

Just got Apple TV and decided to pull the plug on cable. No more Tennis Channel. Has anyone tried Tennis.tv? Is it an adequate replacement for Tennis Channel? Any other recommendations for a legit, paid streaming service?

Thinking about buying a Roku box

Just got Apple TV and decided to pull the plug on cable. No more Tennis Channel. Has anyone tried Tennis.tv? Is it an adequate replacement for Tennis Channel? The on demand section looks excellent, as long as the quality is decent.

    Merrell Barefoot Run Road Glove

Which Inov-8's are you using? I'm very happy with the Merrell's. Similar durability: about 2 months on hard courts. Just found the Barefoot Road Gloves at Cabelas for $69.95. Picked up a pair in each color! Get 'em while you can!

    Minimalist shoes for Tennis?

Try the Merrells. Harder rubber is wearing well.

    Merrell Barefoot Run Road Glove

For me they are. These are quite a bit stiffer than the other minimalist shoes I've seen.

    Merrell Barefoot Run Road Glove

Relax. I can change direction no problem without stressing my ankles because I'm low to the ground. I'm actually ON the ground. Modern tennis shoes only need lateral stability because they're up so high. Old school tennis shoes had no lateral stability either. From your vantage point, high up...

    Merrell Barefoot Run Road Glove

Must be that I'm a "low-impact" mover around the court (probably because I'm 53 years old), but I don't notice any difference in protection. Of course, keep in mind that these Kevlar-plated, titanium-reinforced shoes are a relatively modern invention. The tennis shoes we wore back in the day...

    Merrell Barefoot Run Road Glove

I don't mean to be rude, because I know you mean well, but I was hoping this thread would not turn into a yet another debate between ill-informed alarmists and those of us who understand the pros and cons of "zero-drop" footwear. Thanks for your concern, but I actually consult closely with my...

    Merrell Barefoot Run Road Glove

No adjustments (except for the PPT foam liner for extra cushioning). Barefoot Road Gloves are made for road running. They have a rubber toe bumper and durable Vibram sole (TC-1 rubber). I've been using them on hard courts for 2 weeks now and they are holding up as well as most tennis shoes.

    Merrell Barefoot Run Road Glove

Now that I run and train in minimalist footwear, I decided to experiment with "zero drop" shoes on the tennis court. Although my favorite shoe is Asics Onituska Tiger Tai Chi (viturally a slipper), I chose Asics Mexico 66 (which is a little more substantial). NOTE: I line the footbed of my...
