Aloha 10shoe,
Thanks for pointing that out. My bad for missing that point mentioned in the original question.
This procedure would have to be performed BEFORE and not AFTER the string breaks. Distortion can occur when breaking a string (especially at high tension), and that's why it's...
Aloha,
I used your question in a recent video I created and thought I would answer you directly.
Logic would state that it's not structurally safe for a racquet to be strung in this fashion due to the stress caused by the string tension if only the crosses were left in the frame.
In other...

In my opinion, it's not a sign of laziness or inexperience as others have mentioned. However, in a recent poll that I posted, here are the results of the tie-off knots used by stringers.
10% - Double Half-Hitch
22% - Wilson Pro Knot
68% - Parnell Knot
Here's the video where I share my...
Aloha Irvin, Thanks for letting me know. I'm not sure how this all works, but I'm assuming that I should pay more attention to the date when questions are asked and only comment on the more current ones. The funny thing is that this question was listed on the first page so I thought it was still...
Aloha Nochuola,
You may have your question answered already, but thought I would chime in anyway.
Whether you're stringing from a set of strings or a reel, it's always safer to measure the string length for the mains, especially if you're stringing a racquet with an elongated head shape.
Run...
Aloha,
I don't know if you have found a tool to help you remove staples from a butt cap yet, but here's a "special awl" that I like to use for this purpose.
Klein Tools 650 Scratch Awl with 3-1/2-Inch Shank and Cushion Grip.
You can get it from Amazon for $12.50...
Aloha, I haven't read all the comments in this thread, however, I hope this helps. I recently posted a video where I conducted an experiment where I pre-stretched polyester strings and compared it to normal strung racquets. I'm assuming that touring pros request this procedure to minimize the...
Aloha, I just posted a YouTube video today that addresses this interesting question. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to attach a video in this forum, but I thought it would be helpful to share. Although some stringing machines have a diablo, some stringers opt not to use it to save time during the...
Aloha,
Thanks for watching my videos and I'm glad you found them useful.
Although I haven't done a video on knot types, there are a bunch that you can find that demonstrate the most common knots used.
Double Half Hitch - I learned stringing using this knot and have been using it for years...
Mahalo for the shout-out! The funny thing is that I wasn't informed about it ahead of time. I saw it in a Facebook post a couple of days ago. It was a nice surprise though. :)
Aloha Chimp Chimp,
I recently tested the Stringmeter along with three other string tension devices. Of the four, the Stringmeter was the least accurate in measuring actual tension. The readings averaged 6-8 pounds under the reference tension.
Note: I measured only the four center mains and...
