I used to experiment a lot. A lot! Just about every stringbed was different, often in different racquets too.
At some point I realised I was just in a novelty seeking loop, and the fun of novelty wears off fast.
When I settled on playing just one racquet model and one string setup, I improved...
Biggest impact you'll see immediately on court is a change in launch angle.
Tighter crosses lower the launch angle; looser crosses raise the launch angle.
Played with a full bed of Volkl Cyclone 17 for most of a year when I first got into tennis.
Easily over 50 hours.
The bout of golfer's elbow was just weakness leaving my frail human body.
As for stringing, I started enjoying stringing a lot more when I went to pull weave technique.
Had a pretty similar experience recently while experimenting with a VCore 100L (2018).
First outing I had it strung with Multifeel full bed at 56lbs.
Usually I play Multifeel at lower tensions but in a very open string pattern 100 headsize racquet I decided to pull the tension up.
From the...
I encourage my hitting partners to hit as many warm-up and dial-in serves as possible.
Where warm-up is just getting the motion flowing with rhythmic gentle serves.
Where dial-in is going through your serve inventory to see what you have and what you don't have on that given day.
For me it feels...
I've always wanted to try silk strings after seeing them mentioned in the TT GOAT thread.

However silk isn't vegan, nor is it cruelty-free, nor is it sourced locally; so you lose hipster credibility.
Head are so going to add a Legend stratum to each silo, I can see it already
- Speed Legend (Djokovic)
- Radical Legend (Murray)
- Extreme Legend (Gasquet)
Can't imagine how long it must have taken to develop the technique to play with that sort of setup.
Must be a spectacular feeling when you middle the ball in a stringbed with that much energy potential though, pure zip and zoom.
How many Head Ti. S6s do you see around these days?
Appreciate...
I always wanted to experiment with using an extended racquet, especially one extended to the maximum regulation length (29 inches?)
Just to know what it's like putting the tip of the lever that much further out.
Not even sure where I'd get a 29'' racquet outside of a RZR Bubba 137 though.
Feels...
I kind of separate technologies into two primary domains in my mind.
Performance - that which helps you find more success on the court
Comfort - that which helps you stay on court more without injuries
It's not a perfect separation, because comfort creates performance.
But still when we're...
Kirschbaum Max Power is probably my favourite string for lower tensions.
Been curious about MSV Bussard, seems like a string that would fit the bill too.
That's such a huge difference from the standard model's RA of 60 something.
The layup must be completely different in the L models, like not even close to similar.
What's the deal?
