Goes down again late last night in the 1st round of the Aptos Challenger.
After such an amazing spring/early summer in Eurpoe, he has yet to win a match on the hard courts. He could have really picked up some points being that he had 0 to defend and the top dawgs were playing the Olympics...
Check your Math....Fed worst case scenario is 11,435 not 11,345, so he will be a minimum 95 points ahead of Djoker after Tornto.
Say that does happen, which again is worst case scenario.
Even that does happen, Federer is only defending a QF (180 pts) at Cinccy and Novak is defending a RU...
Just did the Math.
If Fed wins Gold and Djokovic wins Bronze.
The only way Fed loses #1 ranking before US Open is if Djokovic wins both Toronto and Cincinatti and Federer loses in the round of 32 at Cincinatti.
In other words, Fed's #1 ranking is pretty safe for US Open.
Really not that big of a deal. He only made round of 16 last year, so he will only lose 90 points. Djokovic can't gain any points b/c he won last year, and even if he loses on Sunday and Djokovic takes bronze then Fed will be 185 points ahead of him.
Even in that scenario, Djokovic would...
What?? The Olympics carry slightly more weight then a 500 event. While he might be able to pick up some points winning both tournaments, its not going to have as big an impact b/c people in the Olympics are picking up points as well.
That was before it was the week before a 500 event. Players would play this and then take a week off and play the two masters events in Canada and Cincinatti take a week off and then the US Open.
The last Olympics were in Beijing so more people skipped because of the big time difference but...
Round of 16 in a 250 or even 500 event NEVER airs on ESPN. ESPN will air both semifinals and the final. This was the case last year as well. Historically, the field is never great here especially with DC being a 500 event the following week.
How many players are seeded? I'm assuming only the top 16 since it is a 64 person draw. That would mean we could get some interesting matchups in the 1st round.
Ummm....what? What is the reason for putting flags next to their names and distinguishing what country they are from when they list matches on the website/draw?
I'm sure there are Great Britians who don't like Murray's game but still root for him to win because they are patriotic.
What...
