Have to say I find the Federer-Nadal rivalry more exciting, though.
As much as I love Fed I disagree with you. It was pretty much one sided. Rafa hitting to Fed's BH to no end and winning most of the matches. I'm talking about the time when Fed was in his prime. Rafa too. The media created that fantasy rivalry when there were only big 2 and that is fine with me. That is not the case any more. Too many people live in the past or shall I say 'they are nostalgic'.Have to say I find the Federer-Nadal rivalry more exciting, though.

Djokovic vs. Nadal just has not been that predictable plus they played so many more matches.
From 2013 Beijing to 2016 Rome, Djokovic won 11/12 matches vs Nadal and 10 of those were in straight sets. That's never happened in the Fedal rivalry. Talk about boring. It was pretty good before that I guess. As much as I love Fed I disagree with you. It was pretty much one sided. Rafa hitting to Fed's BH to no end and winning most of the matches. The greatest rivalry ever.
Obviously, duh. Federer is not human.Naturally, they are the greatest two players ever
on average about 154 minutes per match
To be honest, the number of hours almost seems less than 54 head-to-head matches. Just think about all the anticipation before their meetings and all the analysis afterward. 54 matches with, presumably, more to come is - of course - the most of any rivalry in the OE. A case can be made for any of the Big 3 rivalries being the best or most exciting, and I do understand that "Fedal" had a certain magic to it.Pretty amazing. When all is said and done, these two may have spent nearly a week of their lives playing tennis against each other (and many here will have spent nearly a week of their lives watching the two square off).
I can go with that by the way.Have to dissagree with both.
For me, both the Nadal-Federer and the Nadal-Djokovic rivalries are equally special, just different.

Yes, it was. It was special. It was Pete and Andre growing up and I didn't think anyone would come close to them so quickly. Federer and Nadal saved tennis. During that time you knew you were watching the two best players ever. I remember people talking about Federer and Nadal that never talked about tennis.Exactly. Plus tennis was just "bigger" 10 years ago.
Bcs its like rock-paper-scissors: Rafa owns Fed, Nole owns Rafa. How can you like rivalry where someone beats your fav on regular basis.Have to say I find the Federer-Nadal rivalry more exciting, though.
It’s been over half a decade since Nadal beat Federer.Bcs its like rock-paper-scissors: Rafa owns Fed, Nole owns Rafa. How can you like rivalry where someone beats your fav on regular basis.
For me, I like both. Didn't like rivalry with Murray tbh.
Are you ok ? So peak Fed was lousy against peak Nadal but now it is shown how it should really worksIt’s been over half a decade since Nadal beat Federer.
Epic defeat at AO, and four straight resounding L’s subsequent to that.
You ok?

I was bored and looked at some of their match scores and h2h to compare to Djokodal. It's a massive difference.
Djokodal - 35/54 matches decided in straight sets (64%) and a total of 3 five setters out of all those matches.
Fedal - 17/38 matches decided in straights (44%) and a total of 6 five setters overall.
-That explains why it always felt like a better rivalry because it WAS.
Djokodal have had some amazing matches. They just aren't as frequent. Fedovic was my favorite for a few years even though Fed wasn't quite as good as he once was. It was satisfying to see Djokovic get ticked off when Fed was putting a whooping on him .Yeah it was like Hogan vs Savage
Shawn vs Taker
Not a knock on Nole at all, Lord knows I love me some Djokodal matches and Wimby 18 is a perfect example of epicness. But it's impossible to deny how big tennis was around Wimbledon 2008. It may never reach those heights again and it's sad. (The WTA also).
It is not a knock at Nole. We all know there was Fedal rivalry before Nole won his first GS. People were excited someone so young can stand up to already proclaimed goat at those times. It was good for tennis really.Yeah it was like Hogan vs Savage

Amen. Not many things in life are as satisfying as seeing Djokovic get outplayed
How much of that time is bouncing the ball 10x times before the serve and adjusting underwear, hair etc? Maybe half a day?

I bet you guys treasure that now more than ever, considering how often (or rather rarely) it happens nowadays.Amen.
Djokodal is a bit overrated tbh, more matches than Fedal but less classics.
4 to 5, a small difference but yes.
Which matches would you list as classics for both rivalries - and also for Roger v. Novak? Does it have to be a major (and 5 sets?) to qualify as a classic? I'm more curious than I am challenging your assertion. Certainly, a few come to mind for each category, although it is somewhat subjective.Djokodal is a bit overrated tbh, more matches than Fedal but less classics.

It's not overrated. It's a great rivalry. Fedal rivalry however at its peak was the best of the best. Now we pretend like many of those matches were lopsided, but it wasn't really the case back then. Wherever I went to watch their matches, a section of us would cheer for Federer and another for Rafa.
Watching some of their RG and Wimbledon finals could make you feel like you're watching a football world cup final. Their rivalry brought in many many casual sport fans to tennis.
What a worthless post.
Overrated by those that like to champion it as the hands down greatest rivalry of all time, it's obviously a great rivalry just not the hands down best (or maybe even the best at all).
I see your point. It's one of the greatest rivalries in tennis history for sure, but I think Fedal and Borg-McEnroe rivalries had more drama and fan following.
I wasn't here to witness Borg vs Mac, only 14 official matches but they happened in maybe the golden age of tennis - Borg was basically a rockstar in terms of following.

He was. I don't think even Federer is as popular as Bjorn Borg was in his days.
I bet you guys treasure that now more than ever, considering how often (or rather rarely) it happens nowadays.
On a more serious note, I like all the best qualities that each of those three match ups bring. They have been by far the most special part of this great and very long era of tennis.
