The Official Head Youtek IG Extreme Pro 2.0 Club

To each his own... I find VS Touch / MSV Co-Focus (or Evo) a really good combination in this racquet. Likewise, I found Yonex Pro Tour poly and Tourbite excellent as well. I'd probably stick with the polys if they didn't go dead so quickly (Yonex in about 10-15 hours for me - the longest...

The Official Head Youtek IG Extreme Pro 2.0 Club

I agree. I can hit everything better with this frame vs any of my old frames -- including my old Extremes. Can't quite put my finger on anything in particular other than noticeable added comfort, but the racquet just becomes an extension of my arm and I stop thinking about it. FWIW, I...

The Official Head Youtek IG Extreme Pro 2.0 Club

I've owned them both -- as well as other racquets with very similar specs -- and my advice is to ignore the specs. It's been eye-opening to me how much differently the Extreme Pro 2.0 plays to the older Extremes. It had me scratching my head as well: I look at the specs and think nothing has...

Advice on picking: Speed Pro or Extreme 2.0

I have the Yonex PTS 1.25 in my Extreme Pros (2.0) -- and love it. Have tried many polys over the years and the Yonex is my favorite to date. I have mine at 46 currently and, if I was to restring right now, might try 48. Somewhere in that range feels just about perfect for me. FWIW, I...

The Official Head Youtek IG Extreme Pro 2.0 Club

Arm pain is the main reason I am switching TO this racquet. I play with the earlier generation Extreme and Radical MPs. To me, the Extreme Pro 2.0 is EASIER on the arm. Very cushioned feel.

The Official Head Youtek IG Extreme Pro 2.0 Club

FWIW, I played a match tonight and the difference between the MP and Pro was much more obvious. I greatly prefer the added weight and HL of the pro when getting in defensive situations... Was just rolling through my opponent with the Pro, then broke a string and had to play with the MP strung...

The Official Head Youtek IG Extreme Pro 2.0 Club

Pro vs MP I've hit about 1500 balls each with the Extreme 2.0 MP and Pro and can hardly tell a bit of difference on groundstrokes and volleys. I do seem to be able to hit kick and slice serves a tiny bit better with the Pro, likely due to it be a little more HL. Is there really any...

The Official Head Youtek IG Extreme Pro 2.0 Club

Which one should I buy? I've been playing with an older Head Extreme (yellow, just before the lime green paint jobs) and like it. Demo'd the Extreme 2.0 MP and Pro today and very much love them. Definite improvement over my older Extremes and I'll be buying a few. Problem is which one to...

Accurate tension / Am I doing something wrong.

My take away from this thread is: 1) whatever you do, do it consistently, and 2) tension values are really machine/stringer specific and really don't mean much except to reproduce a desired performance (with the same machine/stringer). If anything, this thread makes the value of lock-out...

Accurate tension / Am I doing something wrong.

Thank you for the test. That has quite a ring of truth to it... I typically just take 10% off what someone else says is a good tension -- and that rough adjustment in my head is pretty close to the measurement you got... Glad I'm not crazy. Take care -- and thanks again.

Accurate tension / Am I doing something wrong.

Maybe so, but I have watched him string on a digital machine, and saw nothing at all questionable in his technique. Add in too the official range of recommended tension on my Head Radical is 47-57 pounds -- yet I'd treat 47 as an absolute upper limit. Anything above that would be like...

Accurate tension / Am I doing something wrong.

I usually can string up my Radical in 30 mins with my drop-weight machine... I typically pull the string, get the lever level, clamp and release tension -- the tension may be "on" 10 seconds or so -- max.

Accurate tension / Am I doing something wrong.

I have a Gamma 602 Fixed Clamp Dropweight machine. Have strung many of my racquets yet felt the tension was too high; the racquets were just board-like. Then one day I was talking to a friend/pro/stringer who plays with a Wilson 6.1 95 and had some poly at 55 in that frame. I mention that...

String suggestion for Head Radical Pro?

It's still going well. There's a good bit of fraying, but it hasn't broke and is certainly not dead. However, I preferred the bit of extra pop of VS Touch mains with MSV Co-Focus crosses. However, the MSV went dead to the point of being noticeable after about 15 or so so hours of play. I...

VS Touch / Poly on a Radical MP

I'm no expert, but my thinking in using VS Touch over Tonic: 1) If I'm going to shell out the cost for natural gut, I don't want to go 7/10th of way just save 10 dollars or so. 2) The reviews seem to suggest (but I have no experience) that the consistency of Tonic is not as good as VS Touch...

VS Touch / Poly on a Radical MP

I used to play with the Extreme and know what you are talking about. To each his own / there's no one "right" answer: but I increasingly found myself hitting with more pace and grew out of the Extremes / I was managing my swings with the Extreme to keep the ball either in or deep. When I went...

    TW site down?

It's been happening to me for the last several weeks. I try on my MacBook with Safari -- and it just hangs. 'Try Firefox and it's the same. Try on my iPhone on the ATT network (a different carrier), and it's still stuck. I've kind of gotten used to it. Seems like if one waits about 30...

VS Touch / Poly on a Radical MP

Just chiming in to say I'm totally impressed with the durability of the VS Touch / Co-Focus in the 18X20 radical. I have been swinging all-out, hitting cutting slices and kick serves, etc. for about a dozen matches now, and there's barely any sign of fraying other than maybe 2-3 very, very...

VS Touch / Poly on a Radical MP

I've been experimenting with VS Touch on 3 Radical MPs and have a few questions: VS Touch Mains, MSV Co-Focus Crosses at 55/49 (constant pull) seems very, very, very good. At the danger of messing with a good thing: 1) What would be the effect of flip-flopping it? VS Touch on the...

    Radical MP vs Pro confusion

Thought the same and called into TW to ask the string and tension in the demos. Was told Addiction at 55. I tried addiction at 55, 52, and 47 -- and was still totally dead. Conversely, just about anything I put in the MPs felt great -- and similar to the feel I loved in the Radical Pro demo.

    Radical MP vs Pro confusion

Same here. I demo'd the Pro and MP extensively. I found the Pro had more power and spin generation vs. the MP. The MP was slightly more maneuverable. Even though the racquets were pretty similar, I like the Pro better -- until I bought 2. When they arrived they were dead and lifeless --...

    Radical MP vs Pro confusion

It felt the same in my demo - and I loved that power of the Radical Pro. Yet the Radical Pros I BOUGHT were as dead as dead could be. No matter the string (VS Touch to OG Micro) or a very wide range of tension (45-60), I would find myself swinging all-out just to get anemic pace -- and spin...

    Radical MP vs Pro confusion

I demo'd a new Radical Pro, loved it, bought 2, and simply could not replicate the feel of the demos regardless of what I tried. Called TW and asked the string and tension that was on the demo (Addiction @ 55)... Bought several sets and tried all around the tension range they indicated. Then...

    Stringing crosses - 2 clamps or 1?

Yep -- I meant just use one clamp at a time.

    Stringing crosses - 2 clamps or 1?

Sorry I wasn't more specific. I was using fixed swivel clamps -- Gamma Progression II 602FC... The string isn't slipping, but the clamp itself very slightly flexing back when the tension bar is released. The "flexing back" is very small, maybe 1/8" at most.

    Stringing crosses - 2 clamps or 1?

Interesting. I try it each way and see if I can feel or measure (using RacquetTune) a difference. Thanks for the response.

    Stringing crosses - 2 clamps or 1?

Yep - 1 clamp on each side of for the mains, 2 clamps simultaneously. Just asking mainly due to seeing video after video on YouTube of 2 clamps being used simultaneously on crosses all the way to the end. Seems like such a method inherently locks in lower than a desired target tension on...

    Stringing crosses - 2 clamps or 1?

This is dumb question, but do you guys use 1 or 2 clamps while stringing crosses? I ask because a single clamp will very slightly move when I clamp-off and remove tension. If I then pull the next cross and clamp off with Clamp #2 with Clamp #1 also still clamped-down, wouldn't I effectively...

    MSV Hex Tension, Alternatives?

It doesn't take much convincing for me. Did you buy your Wise here or direct? I see direct is now $50 cheaper than here (after the seemingly across the board 10% TW price increase a many items after the 1st of the year)... Any problems? Calibration issues?
