    3D Print Grommets

Yes, this; if we could buy grommet sets from the manufacturers via TW or wherever, we would; I can't find a set locally for my Yonex RDX500 MP (and I'm sure I could do better anyway, nearly ALL the throat grommets have snapped off and are rattling like beads!) I'm sure that with all the...

    Pro Kennex Graphite Destiny 95

If yours looks like this then it is 12.5oz strung, 7 pts head light, with a beam of 25mm (widebody) but throat of just 17mm - my notes say stiffness of 67, but that may be just my guess, won't be far off though! It's my favourite racquet. I'd love one of those cherry-red ceramic Destinies...

Donnay Graphite 790 - where did it come in the range?

I've seen a Donnay Graphite 790 advertised that looks very similar to the Graphite Borg and Pro Cynetic 1 in shape; (i.e. classic "players racquet" dimensions) Can anyone tell me anything about it in terms of when it came out, and whether it was the same as either of those two to hit with?

Hip to be square: "R" you ready? Yonex R Series...

later models of R-series just to add to the Yonex fund of knowledge, I too have seen a later composite version; this one of the metal R-2, the composite version also called a Rexplay 2.

Oh no! he didn't fall for the old guy-taking-his-two-genuine-classic-racquets-for-a-ride scam, did he?? :-P

Ode to the Wilson Ultra FPK 95

Is this the Euro model FPK I've just picked up a Wilson Ultra Firebird - its a tapered beam racquet with a nice amount of flex/feel - is this the Euro Ultra 95 model referred to? I've seen a green Silverbird somewhere too, must be the same family. It just says "graphite" on the racquet, no...

    Grommets and 3D printing

I am starting to collect classic racquets, and have already struck the obsolete grommet issue, so wondered exactly the same thing. I'm pretty sure you should be able to find someone who can do it right now; the low-end home 3d printer might not be able to, but the high-end ones can - see here...

    Boron and Ceramic racquets

I'm starting to get the bug for collecting, and was gutted the other day when someone withdrew one of those gorgeous cherry-red PK Ceramic Destinys from an online auction (I have a mint Graphite Destiny, and love it) coupla questions; 1) Is the Ceramic Destiny stiffer than the Graphite...

Calling all the Yonex experts - model identification please

Nostalgia aint what it used to be! (postscript to the acquisition of my red Glaflex) man, that is one beast of a racquet - so head heavy it makes the Wilson Hammers look like my PSC 6.1. I tell you, the swing was so much like a pickaxe i had trouble just making contact with the ball - and...

Calling all the Yonex experts - model identification please

Woohoo! I may not have my Carbonex 8, yet - but I couldnt resist the lure of the disconcerting thoonk, so when a RED glaflex came up, I had to have it ;-) that disconcerting thoonk could be the sound of my arm falling off, the derned thing weighs in at 13.6oz. I always thought that the...

    pro kennex destiny

I've just seen someone advertising something called a Destiny Lite - looks like all the others in the Destiny mould, dark burgundy & midnight blueish pj - anyone ever played with one of these and can comment on how it plays?

Wilson ProStaff Classic 6.1 - Similar Feel Today?

TripleB I dont think your memory is deficient, I have a PSC and no way is it a 72 compared to my much stiffer PS 5.0 at 70; other people have said the same, they just dont play that stiff so maybe it was a typo that people started quoting? cant help you with a substitute, but my recommendation...

Pro Staff Classic 6.1 si - Specs and Opinions ?

re PSC stiffness I now own a well-preserved PSC (early edition, no "6.1", white butt cap) with the 16x18 pattern, and it would seem to be the same as some posters have discerned of the 18x20 in the stiffness level, ie nowhere near the quoted 72 rating I have found it much flexier than my...

    best "value-for-money" sleeper?

OK guys, lets narrow down that target a little! ... lets set aside the sale-price end-of-line offers on what have been relatively upper-range racquets like the Radical and Response, we KNOW they are good sticks and hugely popular ... I'm talking the REAL surprises, the sub-$50 stuff that...

    best "value-for-money" sleeper?

OK, just for us curious racquet-tinkerers, has anyone ever had occasion to test-drive one of the mid-range/budget models available and thought "gosh this is a heck of a lot better than I expected"?

Why are all of the Prostaff family racquets so stiff?

Prostaff flex Yes I agree the ROK was a keeper; - wish mine hadnt cracked! the cost of a thinner beam, I guess .. also agree it was a slightly atypical PS, but once I added a bit of lead to the ROK to help it swing over the top on my serve, my Hyper 6.1 stayed in my bag. BTW dont be...

    Pro Kennex Destiny Question

I wanna play! this coloured font stuff (or colored font if you are from the wilder colonies) looks like fun!! :) but seriously folks ... I have a graphite destiny that I really like the feel of, but the strings are way too loose so it is trampolining a bit. Now I dont want to string it up so...

thanks for the pics, Soundog! ... that's the beast , all right, like I said those pics may just be the only ones on the net! I'll have to keep my eyes out for one myself, just to see how time has treated it compared to the other Yonexes. I never saw a real live Glaflex, just in the...

almost right , Plasma! its a glaflex, one eff! I remember it now, and yes it did look like the OPS metals - you'll have to let us know how it plays. The Graphlex is a more recent (budget?) Yonex, hence my confusion - can we now look forward to a Glaphrex???

Would you call the Pure Drive from the early 90's a classic frame

Duece I have to say that your signature line about ignorance and confidence betrays you. You seem to be unable to tolerate opinions that differ from yours. statements like "You can disagree with me all you like - but it's fact. The Pure Drive was originally designed for old ladies" yeah...

Calling all the Yonex experts - model identification please

sorry guys, not convinced - data, the YFG is a Yamaha! Plasma, wasnt the GRAPHlex graphite, not alloy? Oh well, someone will remember soon. Anyway I have had a hit with it now - boy, nostalgia ain't what it used to be - it is ...interesting to play with. Head feels like about 35sq in...

Calling all the Yonex experts - model identification please

I've just got interested in the older racquets, and in particular the 80's, when wood finally gave way, first to the metals, then the glass/graphites. Now I'd like a copy of the first racquet I had, which was a Yonex Carbonex which looked exactly like this - except that it was black, not...

Someone should organize an classic racquet tournament...

Hey this is a great idea, but no need for age constraints after all the difference in player abilities would more than make up for that of the racquets You just need a "chief handicapper" (with a good sense of humour) to use a formula (secret of course!) to take the racquets age into account!

    Classic Midplus wood/graphite composite racquets?

Hi Virginia, You may be interested to know that one of those Dunlops on your wish list ("A-Player") is on trademe - yes you can guess where I'm from! Would love to see more of your collection and details on your website soon! I'm sooo envious of all those big collections, I think I have...

    Mizuno Reactor Light

so what do they play like? Does that staggered bed trampoline more? or does it cup the ball and deliver it unerringly to my opposition's feet? (I've always wanted a rack that does that!)

    ++ Best Yonex Racquets? ++

no votes for the carbonex 8 , then  (hey , It's what i learned to play with so it must be good) can't even find any pics of one, ANYWHERE! it was a fibreglass version of the ops racquets, if thats any help, looked like the carbonex 7, but black, not burgundy. ok???

YAMAHA expert and everybody please take a look and give me some comments

Ok guys, here's a test for how far your racquet lust has consumed you; look at that 3rd pic of Gaby: do you think; a) damn, she WAS a fine looking female! or b) damn, racquet is blurred, cant make out the model! :-P

Wilson Prostaff Blitz - any good for customising?

well fwiw I ended up getting the Blitz, and if any of you are looking at one, here are my experiences so far; At 9.9 oz it WAS far too light, and I agree with others who thought that it was a cynical marketing exercise to name this cheaper, lighter, even to head-heavy range (Torch, etc)...
