Yes, it makes sense to clay versions. Court versions will fluff up and gather more grit, sometimes getting fairly heavy too. Stick with the clay balls.

My understanding is the system doesn't work as well on clay due to the irregularity of the lines. Lines are not completely flat and can have mm of elevation difference across them. The system can't account for these inconsistencies and then you get a ball mark that could cause major problems...

Not sure I agree with Tipsa. Johnson is in darn good shape. Cramping is a nutrition/genetic thing. I've seen many professional endurance athletes cramp when they weren't properly hydrated. Not sure what he was taking during the match, but someone like Johnson shouldn't be cramping in a best...

Keep in mind he was not an average junior. He didn't travel around and go to camps like the other kids. He's got 1/2 the experiences of most 20 year olds so he might be a late bloomer.
