is it just me or are the courts playing slower this year?

the past few AOs seemed to have the court playing faster. the court to me this year looks noticeably slower.. which might favour alcaraz? the slowest I recall seeing the court was in 2012.

Gonna be fun if/when we get A.I tennis matches

USO 2004 Fed vs AO 2023 Djokovic at the AO would be cool to watch. 2013 Wimbledon Murray vs Alcaraz 2023 Wimbledon, at Wimbledon. you choose the players and the courts

Should Grand Slams be awarded more points?

Djokovic won 3/4 slams this year and made the final of the remaining one. Yet, there is a good chance he will not FINNISH the year #1. Grand slams are the pinnicle of the sport by a fair margin; it could be argued that winning 3/4 slams and making the final of the other, should virtually...

    Not Up!

Hawkeye is literally used to track the bounce of the ball. Why can't they use/refer to Hawkeye to check whether the ball has bounced twice?

We often talk about how Fed and Nadal have slowed down since their younger days... Has Djokovic slowed down?

I would say no, Djokovic has not started slowing down with his speed around the court/explosiveness/footwork. We've been talking about how Federer and Nadal are slowing down since they were about 30 but Djokovic is older than that.

Based on current form, who would win a clay court match right now, Djokovic or Thiem?

Let's say it's at RG. I ask because the Aussie commentators during the Thiem Davis Cup match yesterday were saying he's the second best clay court player in the world at the moment. I would disagree and I think Djokovic would beat him if they played on clay today based on their current form.

Which was the better match, Nadal vs Thiem USO 2018 or Nadal vs Dimitrov AO 2017?

Tough call but I think Nadal vs Dimitrov AO 2017 SF just about takes it.

    Trophy Question

Someone pointed out recently that for most tournaments, or at least the majors, the winner gets a replica trophy to take home. As far as I'm aware, on the actual/real trophy, each winner has their name inscribed on the trophy. My question is, have they not already run out of space to write the...

    3 crazy things I've noticed

    1. Why on earth do players so often try to hit a smash off a really high or awkward ball without letting it bounce? why????? so many times we see them miss it, but on the rare occasions that they let it bounce, they virtually never miss. It just happens soooo many times, they try to take a...

How do you define each generation?

What years make up each generation, and what players? Here's my take from 1981 (I'm only listing the biggest players of each generation): 1981-1984: Federer Hewitt Roddick Ferrer Verdasco Coria Davydenko Nalbandian 1985-1988: Nadal Djokovic Murray Del Potro Wawrinka Tsonga Berdych Gasquet...

Do you find Nadal vs Djokovic a boring matchup?

Personally I think it is. Don't get me wrong, I think they are amazing athletes and tennis players, but I just find it boring to watch two players just slugging the ball back and forth with lots of spin from the baseline. It doesn't even look like the ball is going that fast. It just seems like...

Where would these players in their prime be ranked now?

Let's try and fit players in their prime into the rankings now. I'll start. Lleyton Hewitt - 4 Andy Roddick - 4/5 Agassi? Sampras? Feel free to add more players.

Ferrer and Berdych are ahead of Murray in Race points this year so far

Currently Ferrer and Berdych have gained more points than Murray this year. I'm going to make a bold prediction and say Ferrer finishes the year at #4. What do you think?

I find tennis too defensive these days in terms of entertainment

For me, pro tennis is kind of lacking in entertainment because the game seems to be really defensive now. What happened to the big attacking shots and game we used to see? Gonzalez's forehand winners, Sampras consistent amazing serve and attacking game, thery're no longer around. Del Potro's...

Why does Federer have/need a coach?

Federer won several slams very convincingly, if I'm not mistaken, without a coach. Surely someone who is the greatest player of all time would know the game better than anyone else...or am I missing something? Maybe his coach is there because he doesn't have time to arrange courts or other time...

Is the Kfactor 90 the same as the BLX 90?

Hi. I've been playing with the Kfactor 90 inch for a couple of years or so now, and it's perfect for me. I need a backup racket for when I break a string, and Tennis Warehouse don't seem to stock them anymore so the BLX 90 is the obvious alternative. Is it the same racket with a different pj? If...

Which player's wasted talent has annoyed/disappointed you most?

Which player's wasted talent has annoyed/disappointed you most? The reasons for their wasted talent may be because they're not fit enough for example, or because they're mentally weak (Gasquet). I'm not going to include Murray, because despite not winning a slam, he's still accomplished a lot...

Huh??? Roddick on Centre Court, Murray on No. 1 Court???????????

For Wednesday, Roddick will be on centre court whilst Murray is on Court 1. This seems extremely strange to me. Not only is Murray the home player who's all the talk lately (which is a huge factor obviously), but he's also ranked several places higher than Roddick. The first reason alone should...

Did Sampras ever play with a non-white shirt?

Sorry if this has been asked, but has he? I didn't watch Sampras play live much during his career, but from watching several youtube videos, I can't recall him playing with a non-white shirt (during his ATP career).

    Question about 'GOAT'

GOAT stands for the Greatest player of all time, which many people, including former great tennis players think is Roger Federer. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't all time mean literally all time? As in, not just the best player so far, but also eternally? So basically the implication is...

Best Australian Open of last 5 years?

Which Australian Open between 2006 and 2010 do you think was the best? (and the worst for that matter) Personally I was very disappointed with last years Aus Open. Will the Grand Slam (4 Grand Slams in on year) ever be won again?

Federer was extremely close relatively speaking (although in those FO finals he wasn't close to winning those matches), and Nadal has come close this year. Will anyone ever win it from this point forward?

    Federer's amazing defense

Seriously, Federer's defense is very underrated. He's such a good attacker, but sometimes his defensive skills just go unnoticed. Like during the Soderling match, Soderling was just pounding it to his backhand out wide and he was retrieving them with lovely slices. On both wings he really does...

Would Federer ever change to a 95 inch racquet?

Do you think he would? Personally I think he is very stubborn and would never change racquets no matter how much he declines and needs it. I also think, hypothetically, that he would never change to adidas from nike even if they payed him a ton more money.

    2011 Grand Slam winners?

Which players will win each slam? Aus Open? French Open? Wimbledon? US Open? I'm guessing Nadal will win the grand slam in 2011...lol. Ok but seriously I'm not sure who will win the slams in 2011 other than Nadal.

Who will win the US Open 2010?

I've got a feeling it's Nadal. Delpo's out, Federer's not playing well and Nadal seems like he would be able to take Murray on that surface.
