Best poly as cross with Nat. Gut?

Hi all, Just an update that I have strung my PS v13 6.1 with Wilson Nat gut 1.30/Alu Rough 1.25 at 56/52lbs, and it is SUBLIME! By far the best string combo I've ever had in any racket. Absolutely incredible feel, control, power, spin, and more FEEL. The snapback is fantastic, and one thing...

Pls RANK which of these strings are best as cross for Nat. Gut mains?

Why 1.15?! Some here say not to use too thin of a gauge vs. 1.30 mains.

Pls RANK which of these strings are best as cross for Nat. Gut mains?

Just an update. Got my Pro Staff 6.1 100v13 strung with Wilson Gut 1.30 at 56lbs in main, and Luxilon Alu rough 1.25 at 52lbs in the cross. The combo is absolutely sublime. It has excellent power, great spin, control and pocketing is ideal. How long the tension will last, who knows but my...

Pls RANK which of these strings are best as cross for Nat. Gut mains?

Thanks everyone for your input. Lots of great discussions. For now, I’ve decided to go with Nat Gut/Alu rough for my first racket and try. Won’t do the second one until I play with this for a bit. Interesting that second vote goes to Yonex Poly tour pro and not fire. Could ppl who voted for...

Pls RANK which of these strings are best as cross for Nat. Gut mains?

Thanks. One major reason I went for Alu rough, is that it’s Federer’s choice. Which may mean not much as they change strings every few games but for sure the combo should work for playability and combination of strings. It also not as stiff as regular Alu power and a bit bigger tension...

Pls RANK which of these strings are best as cross for Nat. Gut mains?

Hi all, I am changing rackets and strings, definitely going Nat. Gut for main, but not sure about Poly cross. Due to shipping delays, I ordered a string that didn't arrive, then ordered another, changed my mind, ordered another pair so now have to pick 2 or 3 to keep, return the rest. I am...

Wilson Pro Staff X v14 vs. Six One 100 v14?

Thanks for this, I just got a PS100v13 (actually two), as it seems to hit the sweetspot for me, will be strining them this week and see how they do. My current 6.1 95, is 355g strung! Weirdly it doesn't feel as heavy as when I picked up PS97v14, or PSXv14... so, have to see how this one does...

Best poly as cross with Nat. Gut?

So, just to update everyone. I will be using Luxilon Alu Pearl Rough, as a cross, AND Yonex Poly Tour Pro 17 as the other option. I will see how they do. Next one would be Isospeed Cream, which seems to be the softest option, but I wasn't able to find one easily, so got YPTP 17, which on...

    Best ball options for Slinger

Good idea, I will keep an eye open. I just hit a session yesterday with the new Penn Championship balls, they were pretty good. I think for the price, can't beat em. It costs 70% LESS than Pro-Penn, or US Open, and from experience, those other balls last 30% more or so. Time will tell I guess.

    Best ball options for Slinger

Thanks guys. I just emailed Penn and these balls are legit Penn Championship just in new packaging. As they’re so affordable, I’ll stick with them for now and report how they do. Apparently these are favorite balls for intuitive tennis. I will use a few ball pressurizers to keep em as...

    Best ball options for Slinger

So, just ordered some Costco Penn balls. This is how they look like?! Is this how all new Penn Championships look now? PS. Gotto find a way to link the photo.

    Best ball options for Slinger

Oh I saw some good review of those. They’re hard to find though. I actually might just get some Penn championship balls from Costco. I bet they’re the same as retail ones and super cheap. Should be sufficient for ball machine I’d say. Essentially half the cost pro-Penn balls. Maybe pro-Penn...

    Best ball options for Slinger

Hi all, End of the last season, I ordered a Slinger, and used it 3-4 times before Winter arrived. I used some old balls I had, plus a few new cans I had. A mix of old Championship Penn, Wilson US Open, and Pro Penn. From experience, Pro-Penn lasts the longest, not just bounce, but also it has...

Best poly as cross with Nat. Gut?

Hi all, Some discussion around here before on poly options for hybrids. Most were focused on wear, tension or spin. What about for comfort and easier hits for 4.0 player? I’m trying to string my new Wilson 6.1 100 v13 for the new season and wanna try natural gut for the first time but as...

Wilson Pro Staff X v14 vs. Six One 100 v14?

Thanks for that. How does the six.one feel compared to X? I know it’s lighter but apart from that, how different is it? I wish they had it for demo at my shop.

Wilson Pro Staff X v14 vs. Six One 100 v14?

Thanks guys. A bit more info about me. My tennis rating is hard to gauge. When in college I was on my college tennis team, and could hang in with average collage player but never at top level. So back then definitely 4.0-4.5. Always played with thinner heavier rackets. Then played...

Wilson Pro Staff X v14 vs. Six One 100 v14?

Hi all, I am a NTRP 3.0-3.5 player (now), early 40s, who used to be a better all around player in my 20s (4.0-4.5) who stopped playing for over 10 years and now getting back into it. I currently play with Wilson nCode Six One 95, which served me well when I was younger, but I am looking for a...
