    Tennis in Chattanooga, TN

I guess the 2:42am post should have clued me in. :) Great thoughts about the leagues and playing in the winter. I will call up Champions and see what Eddie can tell me and just get a feel for the programming. For the league, is it run such that you can schedule your matches on your own, or are...

    Ansley Tennis/Golf club(Atlanta)

This is some quality rhetoric regarding food and tennis. I work currently at the Buckhead YMCA as the Tennis Manager under our Head Pro and it is quite a production when the ladies get out there on thursdays and sundays. What is funnier is that I will accidentally get added to their team...

    Tennis in Chattanooga, TN

Chatt, you are a wealth of knowledge and nice to help me adjust! $40 for a season is similar to Atlanta so I will probably try and get connected with that league. Where did you and your wife play mixed at A1? Thats nice tennis. Sounds like your wife is a player also. I only have 1 usta...

    Ansley Tennis/Golf club(Atlanta)

Oh Ansley... What a nice facility...and a nice neighborhood. They surely can come off a bit cold. However, I had an excellent encounter about a year ago at Ansley. It was for an ALTA mixed doubles match with my now wife, we were engaged at the time. The team we played against were old...

    Tennis in Chattanooga, TN

I will definitely check on Manker Patten. If not only for the historic significance of Chattanooga tennis. It may be a hair $$ for me, but we shall see. Do you play there? Thanks j (dot) andy (dot) golden (at) gmail (dot) com

How do some other polys compare to Gamma Zo Twist?

I don't love Gamma Xo as a full bed but I do like it as a hybrid combo. Currently I have Verve 17 mains and Xo Twist crosses. Seems to give me bite from all angles. Good tension retention also.

ALTA Fall Midpoint - How's your team doing?

Gotcha. Sounds like you will be back at AA soon enough. Might as well win on the way.

    Tennis in Chattanooga, TN

Andy from Atlanta here. I am moving to Chattanooga, TN at the end of October and am worried about the tennis scene in Chatt. Can anyone provide advice or contacts of where to play, cost of play, tournaments, etc...to help me adjust coming from a tennis city like Atlanta. Any thoughts...

Gamma zo tour rough anyone tried it?

Same here. As a hybrid it is a nice main string. Full set goes dead too fast. Just strung Gamma Verve 17 mains at 62 and Xo Twist as crosses at 60. Halloween colors!!

    Clay Court Algae Treatment

Thank you for this! Have removed the algae from court and will try and treat with chemicals. We get rain on and off during the summer, and then humidity through the roof. We will try preventative treatments also and let you know. Thanks

    Clay Court Algae Treatment

Could use advice on best practices in regards to clay courts and algae starting to grow and seep across back fence into the court. Is in a warmer, shaded region of court. Regularly brushed and raked, but algae continues to create spores that spread quickly after a rain and then resuming heat...

Can you change tension of strings once they're on?

As far as dampeners go, the multi-string dampener controls vibration best and thus can change the tension more than others. A typical Wilson logo W is great for vibration but it only sits on two main strings, where as a longer "snake" type any other brand that spans 4 or 6 main strings will...

Can you change tension of strings once they're on?

Tension Changing So either you can stand on your string bed one foot at a time while holding onto a desk/table/wall to loosen the tension....recommended by a former wimbledon winner pro at my club. Or you can add a ton of string dampeners to 12, 3, 6, and 9 oclock on your racquet to increase...

    LUXILON/syn. gut hybrid***

Definitely agree, 61 is high. 58m/53c will be nice, with the 5lb gap the ball will pocket for longer on the stringbed offering maximum control.

Hybrids, Gut for mains or cross ?

With the Zo in the mains, you will want a 1-2lb difference in poly than gut, thus a 56/54 or a 55/53 in polys/gut is logical. If you can prestretch the gut, that will allow it to retain your prescribed tension longer and not immediately lost 3-4lbs after stringing. The Zo is nice, I use it with...

What string should I combine with luxilon big banger?

Hey Kyle, I have experienced great success mixing a multi with the alu power rough, either the Gamma Revelation or TNT2 or Wilson Sensation. This cuts down on arm injuries mentioned on the forum. Also, when stringing with alu power or another type of poly, try a lower tension by 10 or 12%...

Switched from Nike to Asics shoes

Not sure if you can list this info.....but where is everyone finding the best prices for asics? I am new to asics but would like to give them a try. Thinking the barricades will be too heavy to start off from nike vapor tours. Thanks for the info.

    Odd things at Global Gut.

Tennis100....what kind of wax do you prefer? I have yet to string with gut, but if I do, I want to do it right. Any pointers would be great. Currently i am enjoying a gamma xo tour16/revelation16 pattern, so a change to gut could be very interesting! thanks

Official TW String Playtest: 361 Nation

Sharp looking string once on the racquet. Strung at 58 in mains, and Gamma Revelation 16 in crosses at 56. Should provide a nice tension backbone for the softer string on top. My regular string set up Gamma Poly or Big Banger in mains around 58 and Wilson Sensation or Gamma TNTx2 at 54 in...
