Both Greg Ruth’s book on tennis history and Warren Kimball’s book on the USTA contained references to an organization in 1953/1954 known as TPL (“Tennis Players League”), which was organized by Sidney Wood.
In 1954 the organization ran a series of matches as a National Round Robin at the Town Tennis Club in New York. Matches were held on Mondays and were televised.
I have attempted to compile the results of this series from various newspaper articles but have had only limited success.
