1HBH Vs 2HBH advise

I Currently use a 1HBH . Inbetween i briefly went to 2HBH and came back.

Here is the issue.with 1HBH i can hit slices all day long. I cant hit winners ever. With 2HBH i can hit winners but i cant control it much and lack consistency.

Also i cant hit Down the line winners with 1HBH. with 2HBH i can.

I cant Return serves with 2hbh. with 1hbh i can.

I initially liked the 2hBh but once the season started there are more matches and they are very competitive and i had to revert to 1HBH owing to fact that i need consistency to beat them.

I am happy with my defensive skills on the backhand with 1hbh. But i need aggressiveness and the ability to fire up winners.

I totally understand i got a lot of work to do on my backhand (ofcourse all of my game as this guy Federer seems to be too good and i need to beat him :)) )

Any advises/experiences will be appreciated.

IM ONE HaNDED!! i started with two hands but i tried out the one hand backhand and it grew. it took a lot of practice to get where it is. i still have trouble with returning serves. but uhh if you do choose one or the other stick to it. the more you practice what you cant do the more you can do. idk ???

one handed is much cooler dude. you can get all the chick you want if you have a good top spin one handed backhand. just keep practicing

one handed has more options, but it sounds like were opposites, i hit harder with the one handed, yet softer with the two handed, but more control than the one,,, i get returns in fairly good with the two hander, but with one hand i have more reach and can just bunt it back, so i say practice both until u find the one that suits u best

Practice hitting sitters with 1hbh. Also, if you have a very consistent 1hbh, chances are, your 1hbh will be better and/or more consistent than your opponent, so always hit crosscourt with your 1hbh, even try some sharp angle ones.
I found running bh sharp cross court to be very useful. Usually, your opponent will try to hit DTL fh winner to your bh side, so if you can hit a sharp angle cross court back to your opponents bh, they usually will be totally surprise (the first few times anyway).

there is too many questions in your post. What's your MAIN problem? the lack of consictency? trouble with the DTL shots?

specify please your question.

I need a backhand which can fire up winners DTL or Xcourt and is consistent (oh well who wouldnt want a back hand like that).

"One" of my biggst issue is not being able to go aggressive on my backhand side.

Some day it might just click..

I started with a one hander and it wasn't that great. I switched to a two hander and that was better but not so great, still used it for a few months.. Then I switched back to one hander it suddenly it got much better, so I used that for a few months... Still i wasn't satisified and switched back to the two hander for few more months again.. Then switched back to the one hander and suddenly it happened.. I hadn't hit a one hander that day in probably months but for some crazy reason I was able to do it all.. on the rise, sharp angle, drives, flatten, heavy spin, etc.. . Now my backhand is more consistent and more powerful than my forehand. I'm thinking I should switch it a couple more times cause it keeps improving when I switch back to it.

I think the reality is that a combination of better understanding of balance, anticipation, preparation, and overall footwork has improved both backhands though.

In my opnion you should use both I use the one-handed slice because slicing from a two is difficult and use a two-hader for flat and topspin. Generally I use the slice for approach shots and some times defensive shots. The two I use during most rallies and its a real weapon. When you play somebody and you use the two and suddenly you bring the one handed slice it really throws them off and is a good mix up shot!

Um... no one hits 2-handed slices.

HAHA you just never seen anyone skilled enough to pull it off. I can do it and its an unpredictable shot. It doesn't really require that much skill its just not as effective in terms of spin and reach to me. Though if you are talking about in pro tennis maybe not..... I don't watch that much pro tennis but I'm sure a couple pros have done it during their matches.

Consistancy ALWAYS should be above power. If you can slice all day with your backhand and return well then that's a great power. 2 handed backhands don't really give you more power but they are easy to generate topspin with.

I suggest you learn a 1 handed topspin backhand. It will be hard because it depends on your 1 hand more than slice. When you can do a 1 handed backhand with topspin then you will have quite an impressive backhand game. You would hit so consistantly then on shots that are weaker you can put them away for a winner!

I'm suprised that you would consider switching to a 2 handed backhand. In my tournaments consistant players always win over everyone. Even though they don't hit winners or even place the ball extremely well. They win by the opponents defeating themselves with unforced errors which happens in pro tennis all the time.

Iam happy that iam winning by allowing my opponents to loose. I want to get better. I want to win my own points apart from my serve. This way i will have more options.

Return serves with one hand, rally with one hand, and then hit passing shot winners with two hands. I have played a guy who could hit one hand slice, two hand topspin or left hand forehands and he experimented with all when playing me since I tend to attack my opponent's backhand. He mostly hits two hander now when playing me but is out with a knee injury....

Do you think that the two hander can act as an effective way to build up to a one hander? I couldn't do a one handed topspin shot to save my life, so I switched to a two hander. I hadn't tried a one hander in a few weeks and I was actually doing better with them.
