This is the first time playing in quite some time. US Open has re-inspired me.

I've never been able to serve, but I've been trying. Could y'all pass along some advice and critiques?

Please excuse my wife's commentary :D

Here are some things that I quickly noticed.

1. You have a very loose service motion(maybe a bit too loose). I would like you to keep your upperbody as loose as it is now but be more explosive with your feet. It looks like you are throwing yourself into the serve and not jumping/exploding into the serve.

2. Your toes are pointing BACKWARDS, which is bad because you are in way too closed stance. Nothing wrong with that if you can rotate your body 180 degrees and have an incredible balance, which you most obviously don't possess. By hitting from such a closed-stance your balance is messed up and thats one of the reasons why you fall far left after your serve. You should be moving your body forward into the serve and not across the serve if you get what I mean. You should point the right netpost with your left foot toes and keep it that way throughout the serve.

3. Keep your left arm up longer as if there was an imaginary rope above you that you were clinging on to. You should feel the stretch.

I would personally recommend you to change to a pinpoint stance. By having such a closed stance you have now you are
1. unable place your serve
2. unable to have a consistent toss
3. hard to move your weight forward into the serve

Here is one plus:: Because of having hit from such a closed stance you should have developed a natural core and shoulder rotation.

First, I think you doing a lot of things right, so I don't think you are that far off from improving your serve. I particularly like that you are bending your knees and arching backward so that you can put significant topspin on your serve to get it to curve down and into the box.
The two things I would work on now would be to concentrate on:
1.) a consistant toss to exactly the same place
2.) through your front hip out a little more. This will allow you to come over the ball more with more topspin from a forward body motion, rather than having to rely on only your arm and wrist pronation to do it. Additionally, the bigger windup will allow more pace on the ball.

Thank you both for the feedback. Ill try to work on opening my stance a bit more and pushing up and forward with my legs.

Looks like you're a big guy.
OK, don't get a hernia and pull muscles with all that motion, you can hit hard limiting all that body motion just because you're big and strong. Look at vids of the big Croats serving. They use minimal body contortions, and get power from leverage alone. And when you limit body motion, you get more consistency for percentage and placement.

Notice I said... "big guy" not necessarily "tall guy".....
Weight gives you plenty of ball speed. Any of the top Croats, from Ivo, Marin, Ivan, or any's ....
Your main problem is all the little body contortions that you employ. KISS, keep it simple, the ball is not intelligent and doesn't need to be messaged, it needs only to be hit.
At 5'9", I'd look at LeytonHewitt, but tone it down, he's in great shape.
I liked Korda, but you're rightie and built opposite.
