I'm thinking of going to Melbourne for the Australian Open next year.

Has anybody here been to that tourney and could offer tips/advice? I'd really appreciate it.

At this point in time I want to book the accommodations. What are the most convenient hotels to stay at (close to the grounds)?

Thank. :)

My wife and I have been to OZ Open once, which was this year.

The event was totally awesome! There's a lot of entertainments happening in Melbourne Park Complex and the city as well. We spent 4 days and our days were totally full of tennis, food, and excitement!

For accommodation, as long as you stay in the city (we stayed in South Bank, near Crown Casino) you should be fine since transport like Tram-Train to Melbourne Park is free and the services are from morning till late.

As for the oz open tickets, check out www.ticketek.com.au when oz open tickets are released for oz open member, public.

If you want to secure the tickets before they go to the public, I suggest you to be an australian open member (http://www.australianopen.com/en_AU/tickets/membership.html?promo=promobox)
the member gets many benefits check out that site what are the member benefits.

I hope things above help.

if you dont mind spending money on accommodation, then crown hotels is probably the best place to stay for the aus open. thats where a fair few of the players stay during the tournament its also a big casino complex so if you stay there you will probably see a couple of big names wandering around, playing poker and stuff.
if you dont want to spend the money to stay at crown, there are a lot of hotels and accommodation near melbourne park that are cheaper.

i live in melbourne and there is a lot of stuff to do in the city, coupled with the aus open im sure you won't get bored of the place.
