Wow committing to buying a reel of a string you've never used, quite a gamble there. Personally I hated Pro Hurricane Tour. I read the reviews on it here at TW and it makes it sound like it's the best string ever so I bought a set to try. I found it to play very stiff, dead & unresponsive. It also added no extra spin whatsoever. I've tried the majority of all the "spin/texture" polys on the market and that was probably one of the ones I liked the least.
On the other hand I found Babolat RPM Blast to be quite decent. I know there are some ppl who purport that RPM is nothing but black Pro Hurricane, but having used both I felt they played totally different. I guess it's remotely possible that simply adding black dye or whatever could change the characteristics of a string. But RPM is softer and more playable, but like Hurricane Tour (and most other hex shaped strings) it didn't do anything for spin.
While we're on black, hex polys, I've also used Pro Signum Tornado, Volkl Cyclone & Black Code. Tornado and Cyclone play identical to me, their names are even almost the same. They're a step behind RPM in comfort and just a little less responsive, but their cost is much more reasonable. Black Code is a pretty middle of the road string to me, doesn't have any stand out characteristics in my book and none of these hex strings seemed to add any more spin. I actually found Red Code to have more bite than Black Code even though it's a standard shaped string. I think it's because Black Code has a coating that makes it more slippery, probably slows notching. Red Code doesn't seem to have this coating and grabs the ball better.
For real spin production I still feel Tour Bite & Barb Wire do the most, with Blue Gear also providing honest spin increase but not on the level of the first two. But I liked Blue Gear's playability better, more pop, more feel.
