@SoBad,
I presume the post is to me, but I never get to read it since I have you on ignore and intend to keep you there.
Cheers buddy

Hi Chanwan,

You are doing fine – I did not require you to answer my question, since it was a rhetorical one (if you know what that means:lol:).

By the way, I am thinking of adding you to my Buddy List so that we can overcome the challenges of the time zone differential and be able to communicate more often. Hope all is well!

Cheers,

SoBad

Hey Matt,
I really like your backhand. Seems very reliable and your rather compact preparation must be helping for that. I wish I had your consistency on that wing. But seeing some of your videos I've noticed something, you rarely seem to finish points on your bh. A lot of times I see you have a shorter ball on that wing and you just put it back defensively, where you could rip, if not a winner, at least a deep shot in a corner that would set you up for a winner next shot (you had a chance at 0:51 and 1:28 of your vid). I'm not criticizing, you're better than me anyway. Just wondering if this is something you noticed yourself. Or maybe you just choose consistency over winners, which is a a always wise thing to do.

Hey DonDiego, I definitely agree that my backhand is not a point-ending weapon and is primary a rally shot. It has always been my weaker wing throughout my tennis life, and although it has gotten to a point where I think it is solid enough not to be attacked, I just don't really have the confidence to hit through it consistently to go for a winner off that wing. I primarily try to place it deep to a righty's backhand going cross court, and I use it to reflect pace. I think the next step to my tennis improvement would be trying to develop my one hander into a weapon. Thanks for the analysis :)

Hi SoBad,
I don't know what being on your buddy lists entails? Please elaborate - am more of an ignore-type of guy.
All is indeed well in lala-land, thank you very much.
And no, have never heard of a rhetorical question. Again, please educate me oh you almighty

Two way tie for last.

But in all honesty, I only watched Matt's point in its entirety -- the sound effects wore thin after a few seconds on the other video. Also, if I could subject myself to the sound effects without completely losing my mind, it is difficult to do an apples to apples comparison due to the different perspective of the vids.

In Matt's case, unless the initial objective was tying to stretch the point out as long as possible, (in which case it would have been a resounding success) it was as tentative a point as I have ever seen between two very good players. Both players are skilled enough and had enough angles to have ended the point many times, but chose safe (even anemic looking) shots that were way below their actual ability.

Excellent skills, but play that shortchanges both player's talent levels.

This entire post, with the bolded being key, sums up both videos. Enjoyable to watch though, albeit frustrating.

Players get to the point where they almost forget that the point is still worth as much as the ace the other guy hit on the previous point. They let it affect their shot choice they start pushing rather than just playing their game. If thats how they think theyre most likely to win the point they should do it every single point not just when a rally gets to 25 shots or whatever

Not all points are worth the same. I would tend to play a little safer at 30-30 than 40-0 for example.

Ciao, caro Cianvanni – questa mattina mi son svegliato and observed that early fall night chills will likely result in some spectacular foliage colors this autumn.

The Buddy List is a forum feature that enables posters to make friends, keep track of fellow posters, and communicate more easily with the subset of the foruming community of the poster’s choice.

A rhetorical question, in this context, is one designed to evoke a response where none is required or expected.

I will continue to monitor your posts closely and will be sure to let you know if and when I add you to by Buddy List. Cheers mate!

Done!

I am not sure what will happen though because this is my first time!:D

I was lecturing Chanwan from a theoretical perspective because we know he’s too nosy to actually use the Ignore List feature!

I am indeed nosy enough to uncheck you from time to time seeing that you seem to follow me around the forum (me thinks I might be on your buddy list already). But I do have a pretty long ignore list that contains but is not limited to 5555, 6-1 6-3 6-0, 90's Clay, agreed, Arsenal4o, Chico, Fed_Djoker_Fan, Gonzo_style, Gustavo Kuerten, helloworld, Nostradamus, The Dark Knight - and more often than not, SoBad.
Cheers!
