Choosing a Racket

Hello everyone,
Im going back to Tennis after a break of 6-7 years
Im not in a great shape as i used to be therefore id like to play with a lighter racket (had pure drive 2012, strungweight of ~314g)

from checking the current market i noticed 3 rackets which stole my attention -

Babolat Pure Aero Team (strungweight of 300g)

Wilson Ultra 100L (strungweight of 295g)

Wilson Clash 100L (strungweight of 292g)

any opinions about these?
clash looked cool, but im afraid that being the lightest racket here + most flexible it wont generate enough power for me,

i guess for start ill be more of a baseline player

i would like to hear your opinions :)

Thanks in advance

Clash has a lot of power. Not pure drive or head extreme territory.. But It plays like a racket with 8-10 points higher flex without the boardy feel and arm stress.

I would say get the Clash 100L (of the 3 you mentioned) and slowly add weight to handle as your strength improves and skill returns.

If you can handle a regular version (*Pure Drive), I wouldn’t go lighter. As far as 100” frames go, I think you should look into the Yonex Ezone 100 and Pure Aero. In my opinion, those two are the best all-around 100” rackets that will offer the best feel & playability. The lighter rackets aren’t as stable as the regular versions.

I could handle it, but around 8 years have passed and im not in shape as i used to be (significantly)
obviously the regular version are the ideal choice, but until ill get my muscles trained i rather take it slowly with a lighter racket (and then ill post another thread after ill get stronger :) )

the rackets you mentioned seem too heavy for me, any opinions on these lighter rackets (or other?)

thank you both!

In my opinion, there hasn’t been a better time than picking up a new racket because there are so many great ones. I mentioned those two because I really like the feel of both frames. Though I’m not experienced with the lighter versions, I can imagine them having the same nice feel. They will come at a lower weight and head heavier balance, but the rest of the characteristics should be similar.

I hope it doesn’t throw you off, but choosing the right string for your game is just as important as choosing a frame. Consider looking into different strings and read the reviews.

The EZone 100 and Pure Aero has the same unstrung weight as the standard Pure Drive. (ie. 300g)
it is abit like riding a bike - would you go one or two sizes down after 8 years not riding your old “standard” sized bike?
I think the standard Pure Drive would be a suitable starter, simply because you have used one before.
