I have a question about an eligible d2 player. If they play in the fall semester, and assuming the qualify for the 1 time transfer exception, can they transfer to another school, outside of their conference and play in the spring semester.

That's an important question and a timely one, I wouldn't look for answer on this forum and rather call NCAA Eligibility Center directly: 877-262-1492. They are really helpful and if you ever feel like you want another opinion, just call back or ask if you can verify the info with someone else as well. It's important you understand what is possible and how to do it. Good luck!

The simple answer is yes they can. It may get a little complex if you want to transfer intra-conference. However, you stated that wasn't your intent. People do this routinely in all divisions of NCAA tennis.

you have to be released from scholarship/NLI agreement first before you can even talk with other coaches otherwise it is an NCAA violation.
You just need to talk with your current coach who then needs to check with compliance officer.
