I've hardly watched any of the matches at the USO as I've been working alot. I watched Nadal vs Roddick which I thought was awesome but I watched their (Novak & Roger) match yesterday and OMG the tennis was AMAZING! It really was a shame someone had to lose.

The aggressive hitting was what tennis is all about I mean Roger was hitting his forehand SO hard I couldn't believe it and Djokovic was not budging an inch the match was so tight, these two are really producing such high quality tennis every time they meet.

I'm a MASSIVE Nadal fan but this match was incredible.

I also have to give massive props to Djoko for coming back from 2 sets to love and then having match points against him I thought he had resigned to losing but he ripped that forehand and then Roger misses who could have wrote that script?

Great stuff! :)

Lets hope the final follows the same suit!

Yes, great post - amazing to see these two athletes at their best ... and great for tennis...

IMHO, unfortunately, this positive thread will quickly fade as ALL positive threads do on this Board... too bad

^^^ Yea it was great match and to be honest I've been so impressed with Roger for raising his game and he has been damn unfortunate not to win some of these close matches.

But all of the top four (top 3 especially) have played beautiful, consistant, high level tennis!

Just what us fans want to see!

Yeah that was one of the best matches I've seen in ages. All the years of Djokovic and Federer being in the same half have robbed us of some epic finals

I will have to disagree with this.

That match was pretty crappy. Djokovic was flat for the first 2 sets. Federer played some of the most cringeworthy tennis ever in sets 3 and 4. The 5th set was chokefest.

That match provided a ton of drama, but the tennis quality was equivalent to a steaming pile of crap.

WHAT? Do you understand tennis? Probably not that was a great match just like last years semi, at one point fed was smashing his forehand and djoker smashing it back great rallies!

Lol! I also remember Federer moonballing backhands short in the court for Djokovic to munch up. I also remember Federer benefitting in second set from Djokovic not even being able to keep the damn ball inside the court. Djokovic spent the better part of the second set whining like baby to his box. I also loved how Federer's backhand became a 50:50 shot as the match progressed. It either went over or went into the net/10 feet out.

I think the first 2 sets resembled a bit of 90's tennis, alot of unreturned serves, not a rally every point, but when there is a rally, it was pretty unreal, lots of serves, and then cleanup forehands. It even had a 7-6 6-4 scoreline, typical no break no rally scoreline. haha

That's the kind of match Federer should want to play, and hence he won those first 2 sets.

The 2nd 2 sets were more baseline oriented and Djokovic really showed his baseline superiority. The 5th was tight, and then Roger choked, while Novak took it to the next level as world #1.

Overall, I agree, it was a great match, which was not over until it was over. Which is why most of us love tennis to begin with.(i hope)

It was an awesome match. I (Nadal fan) started to watch the match in the middle of the night and stayed up until 5.30 in the morning. The other time I did this was for that famous Rafa-Federer final.

I even skipped Rafa's match afterwards. I knew that one was going to be a one-sided match anyway.
