Darts and Snooker - Games or Sports?

So since my tv has been completely monopolised by my husband, it makes me wonder, is darts a game or a sport? Is Snooker a game or a sport? What is the difference. One of my friends (who plays a long and confusing traditional British game) claims tennis is just a game. Who is he kidding?

If you play darts for real, with poison tips, I guess you'd say it is neither a game or a sport, but a LIFEstyle.
I always got smoked in a typical bar distance of 3 meters. I always smoked when we moved back to the other side of the room, tossing right over the full tables (with the people there).
Snooker is pure precision, well out of my league. Nineball and 8ball is more my style.
I think a sport is a game which requires a little bit of physical exertion.
A game which is sport is trying to stay alive..:-?

Snooker...
Isn't it the billiards game where there are no pockets, that the goal is to block your opponent, and you're playing defence all the time?
I just don't like that idea at all.
I like to go for the offense.

Darts. Those in Africa and Indonesia who fight wars with poison darts and kill for food with it don't consider it a "game". Don't try it drunk.
And snooker, as precision a game as golf, once again, don't think it works very well when drunk.

No That's not snooker. But yeah Snooker requires a lot of precision. The pockets are way narrower and the table bigger.

Games. You shouldn't sweat (from exertion, maybe if there's $$ on the line.) That's the difference.

Poison darts

Hmm, great observation about poison darts LeeD. I am dangerous enough throwing darts lefty but right-handed, I would definitely take out an eye. I hate snooker as well, especially when its on my tv. Pool and darts, definitely pub games enhanced by alcohol consumption! Although I have one friend who couldn't play a good tennis game unless he came down to the courts after a few drinks and with a cigar in hand...I am serious. He could actually play out a game, cigar in mouth...

I grew up near a pool hall where they had a snooker table (9 foot) and I loved playing. It takes a different approach to play snooker than straight pool. I used to play darts but just never felt connected to it.

A regulation snooker table is 12' X 6'.

A regulation billiards table is 9' X 4.5'.

I have a "9-footer" in my basement. It is a much harder game on this table than a standard "bar table". Most people that play on my table are surprised how bad they suck :)
