I know the WTA doesn't get much traction on this forum but for those that do follow, it's a pretty big deal.

Sascha Bajin was a hitting partner with Serena for 7 years, then worked with Azarenka during her great run in early 2016 when she won Brisbane and the Sunshine double. He then went on to work with Wozniacki in 2016 where she made 6 finals and won the WTA Finals. He joined Osaka in late 2017 and in 2018 she went on a great run in 2018 winning Indian Wells and the USO and then earlier this year won the Australian Open and became #1. They of course split suddenly, he later joined Mladenovic and although she didn't have much singles success she won the French Open doubles title and made the SF of Wimbledon and QF of the USO and got to #1. They split in October. and now Yastremska has hired him!

Watch out for her in 2019.

Pleased to hear this. Yastremska has serious game and the ability to win a slam. Good choice to hire Bajin. I thought Bajin acted too quickly teaming up with Mladenovic who doesn't have the game to win slams.

Hmm... What's the consensus within coaching circles? Any idea how good a coach he actually is, because was he ever actually Serena's, Azarenka's or Wozniacki's coach? That leaves Osaka and Mladenovic with both partnerships not lasting that long. Fair play to Mladenovic for single-handedly dragging France to the Fed Cup title in that final (with a cheeky rocket in form for Garcia in the doubles), and not being too disheartened by losing her coach.

Osaka won 2 slams with him as coach, won zero without him. That should tell you how good of a coach he is.

Hitting partner with Serena and I think the same with Wozniacki and Azarenka but had a larger role than with Serena. He does seem to have issues with keeping the women long term. Not sure if he’s sleeping with them or taking too big or a cut but he goes through them very quickly.

That’s the million dollar question. Osaka fired him but he fired Mladenovic. Kiki was quite upset about it.
She should be, I guess he didn't see an opportunity to win Slams there.

He's such a good coach you would think he'll be locked down with an iron clad contract but he keeps changing players, something is wrong there.

Osaka definitely had a slump after splitting with him but it seems no one truly knows what went on in their working relationship. We will see how she performs next year after she won 2 titles in Asia at the back-end of this year, and she'll be focusing hard on the Tokyo Olympic Games also - will be an interesting year for her pressure wise, especially trying to defend the AO title having now somewhat stabilised.

What makes you say he's "such a good coach"? Of course, many players seem keen to work with him but I haven't seen any inside opinion on what sets him apart from other coaches etc - any info?

Yeah, something tells me he's potentially a womaniser with his jet-setting lifestyle (couldn't see any sign of a gf/wife online and he's 35 - just saying...), or he's into dudes.

Well, I'm only basing my assumptions in the fact that the player he has worked with goes to win and improve her ranking.
