Eagnas Combo 910 Calibration

I am new to stringing on my own.
I just bought this used machine (Eagnas Combo 910) and decided to calibrate it using a digital scale as shown in the pictures. The tension was set to 50 lbs but the scale reads 46.80 lbs, when the tension is set to 54 lbs, the scale reads 49.6 lbs.

Two questions:
(1) Is this correct way of calibrating? If not, is it possible to do it with a digital scale or should I buy a tension calibrator?
(2) If tension is really off like it says it is, how do I correct this problem?

Take a reading right as the tension head locks out. That nylon strap and plastic string will relax after lockout.

It's best to use some kevlar string to attach at both ends. (very little stretch)

Otherwise you are generally doing it right. I put a sharpie down for the string to "roll/slide over" (left side of picture)
to reduce friction.

I used a peak hold gauge and measured the peak reading. No guesswork and there is no need to consider what type string is used. If you dont have a peak hold function Kevlar like @struggle suggested is an excellent choice as the loss of tension after LO is sort of muffled.

EDIT: If I remember correctly Bret (Gamma Tech before John) suggested using an analog gauge as the fluctuations were much less noticeable.

^^^ I actually like the spring scale for that reason. All those digital numbers jumping around
lends to a false sense of something being wrong.
