Gamma 6500 ELS Turntable Problem

I just bought a 6500 ELS and discovered that whenever tension is applied, the turntable gets pulled downward toward the string gripper. When tension is released, the turntable rocks back up to its original position. Waiting for Gamma tech help on any possible adjustments.

It sounds to me like you did not adjust the set screws that hold the turn table pin in place properly.

You are not losing any tension as the deflection of/play in the turntable is no different from a soft string stretching when pulled.

The turntable will deflect until it bottoms out and can't deflect anymore and then the tension you selected will be applied to the string. When you clamp the string it maintains your selected tension and then you release the tensioner to free the frame up to rotate it. You aren't losing any tension.

You definitely want to talk to Bret at Gamma.

Something does not sound like it is adjusted properly.

Thanks, Rich. I appreciate you comments. Additionally, I am also seeing the clamps move left and right as tension is applied and removed. The clamp bases are tight. I believe it is because Gamma has the racquet positioned so high that the telescopic clamp columns have to rise out of their base to an extent that they are subject to lateral deflection when tension is applied. This is not a "Rock Solid" device. I now believe this is were my tension loss is occurring. When the gripper turns, the clamp deflects in the direction of the pull towards the tensioner. When the gripper releases, the clamp deflects back towards the tension in the strings.

You will have some deflection in your clamps, that is called drawback. Without seeing how much they deflect makes it hard to tell if it is excessive or not.

when you pull the next string you will sometimes get back some of the drawback you got on the previous string.

Thank you, Rich. So some deflection is normal. Part of the art, I guess, is to compensate for the inadequacies of your equipment. Clamp shafts are too short and, in order to reach the string bed, have to extend upwards out of the base tube to an extent where there is no lateral support. Solution: Some combination of the following - lengthen Clamp Shafts, raise the vertical support tube of the Clamp Base or vertically compact the Frame Support Post configuration.

The Gamma support crew is really cool and they are helping me with a solution. Top notch! This machine is made with the most excellent materials and I received it well packed with high quality tools and strings to get started. Save the difficulties noted in this tread, this is a high quality product and I am very impressed.

Yeah I agree Gamma send out pretty decent machines.

the Gamma agent I brought mine through did bother to read "How to keep your customers happy thus ensuring repeat business" LOL

regards,

tricky.
