grass tennis courts in Northern California???

Hi all,

I am on a mission to play on grass tennis courts. I understand I can find them in a few places in Arizona and also at least two places in Palm Springs, CA.

Does anyone know what the closest grass tennis court is to the San Francisco Bay Area?

There used to be one in Aptos Beach and also a few down in Carmel, but they were all dismantled.

Are there any in Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo or Los Angeles, for example?

Any in Northern California? They are evidently very difficult to find.

There are some great grass courts (free to play on too!) in Eastern Oregon...

More Central California than Norcal, but Sierra Sport and Racket Club in Fresno has 2 grass courts.

That's incredible that there are grass courts to play on which are free in Eastern Oregon. If you can be more specific as to the location of those, I would definitely make a trip to play there and donate to the cause if necessary.

I guess the answer is that Fresno is the closest now, thus far, to Bay Area residents, after reviewing these responses. I want to thank everyone for logging in and sending me this information. I am truly grateful.

i think there is a resort in Carmel that still has 1 grass and 1 clay court.

Squints, you will have to be more specific than that on the Carmel grass court facility. There were some years ago, but the places that had them -- one in Aptos Beach and the one in Carmel that came up online, no longer maintain grass courts.

We need specifics, people, please, a club name and an address, or for that famed town facility in Eastern Oregon, at least the town name, if not the address.
