Helping Lil Bros To Improve!!

Without seeing the serve... and presuming he doesn't double-fault himself to death... I do think the red guy could survive in the depths of 3.5. Even though his strokes have lots of consistency problems, he actually has very good instincts for the ball. He clearly has some understanding of placement. It also looks like he has an understanding of the racquet face and how to strike the ball to get it to do different things. He's also fit, chases the ball down, and gets lots of balls back. That is standard-fare 3.5 pusher tennis. It does win matches.

In high-level 3.5, he will get breadsticked at a minimum. He has no chance at 4.0. At 4.0, he would get demolished in straight sets inside of 45 mins.

He's got good potential, though. I like it that he goes for shots when he has a chance -- as opposed to always just dinking it back.

For the one in red shirt I can't fix his form. He wins his matches but his form is way off. So is little one in black.Help with this? Btw what ntrp level would yu say is red? 3.5-4.0?

3.5

set a better example...your strokes are good but too much show boating is a
bad example and distracting for them. Give them a good mental image.
They currently will be thinking more about your tweener than a good Fh
with what you are doing.

During warm up, they played like 3.0. Second video they were 3.5. To me, that usually means they haven't played for a long enough time yet for their strokes to be in muscle memory. Honestly, I would just let them play a lot over the summer and fall, and they will get better. Your body will figure out how to move to the ball better, they will make the slight adjustments to racket angle, etc. The only difference is to make sure everyone is hitting and not standing around. That is a big waste of time.

Have them play matches with better players.

When they see how better strokes and court movement is needed to avoid being beaten, they will be the ones asking YOU for more help.

That's why I play with them.. unfortunately I start to mess around.

I like to hit with red though bc he's goes for every ball and is very consistent. He actually plays a pushing game in real sets (I will upload one soon) but I'm hitting with him now bc he's going to play varsity doubles next year.

*I look like Nishikori?

First of all, I personally like that it looked like you were all having fun. Nice tweeener by the way. I am guessing that neither of these kids is most likely to make in on the tour, so they should enjoy being out on the court. Naturally, there is a time to work at the sport and a time to play.
As for the young man in the dark shirt, I am not sure how old he is, but it almost looked from his swing that the racquet was too heavy for him. He should hit the weights a little bit. For the kid in the red shirt, backhand needs work. The two hander seem like is was dominated by the right hand. Maybe have him try some choked up left handed forehand so he can get the used to the idea that the left hand does the majority of the work. As far as his slice goes, he needs to start from scratch.
Good luck and continue to have fun

I'm not saying don't have fun and keep it light, but so much showing off distracts
from your normal good form. Save the highlight shots for after they learn
some basics....which should not take too long in a better environment.

your video setup is great, what equipment did you use, especially for mounting the camera high up on the fence to get that view?

thanks! But I used a gorilla pod to attach the camera to the fence. I know how ppl aren't that big about seeing too low positioned tennis videos or too high like TV so I decided to spend a few $$ to get this and ppl like it haha :)
