If Blake wins the final against Federer tomorrow, which I hope because he's had his due, I think he will very likely retire from "big tournaments" and only play in small ones like Thailand Open, Stockholm Open etc, because if he wins tomorrow he would always be able to brandish his "world Master Cup title" and say "Well, I was up there with the best". What do you think?

why would Blake retire when he just starting to realize his potential? You don't just retire when your playing at your best, having a great time, and have no grand slams to show for it.

I agree with the previous two posters. Bettis retired from the Steelers after they won the superbowl last year, but that's different. He was an older player and past his peak. Blake on the other hand, assuming he does win, will just have reached his greatest.

This does Not make whole lot of sense, and i am trying to be nice about it. If you ask Blake or anyone in his camp, His only and main objective is to win a GRAND SLAM like US open or OZ open even, now if he wins US open then maybe but Not. I have asked him this question thru his website 2 years ago when he was still answering all his emails personally. And he has told ME that his Ultimate goal is to win at least 1 slam or maybe 2 slams. So just that you know, he admires Arthur Ashe and he wants to accomplish similar feats as he had done on and off the court. So he will NOT retire til this is Accomplished............:-D

It's a shame for him that he went bald before he got good. This probably cost him several million dollars in endorsements. Agassi and Jordan were able to pull it off. Blake just looks like an octopus sat where his head used to be. Pity.

are you sure Blake is bald ? I thought he shaved off his hair because he liked that look. His brother got so much hair, I figure it has to be the same with him.

one of those retartded posts to increase their post count - what a pity .

-- and yes he is bald.

And this is what I found :

"James had been known as “the cool dude in the dreadlocks," but he tired of the look and shaved his head. That shocked his agent, who told us that losing the dreadlocks may have cost James $1 million in lost endorsements.

His girlfriend, Jennifer Scholle, likes the bald look. They met last year when his face was still paralyzed."

I hope James can put up a fight.

his game probably can kill Nadal, but Roger is not afraid of this type of games. so
Fed win for sure.

Right now, Blake just got smacked in the face. A Bagel in 26 minutes. Fed is gonna run away with this one. Blake has to dictate the rallies, if not Blake is lost. And that's exactly what it looks like. The crowd also are getting antsy, they wanna see Blake do something, anything. He's resorted to his old ways again. He breathes hot and cold, he's very streaky. He needs to get a few winners and maybe he'll get back into it. But right now the slugging game Blake brings doesn't bother Fed. To me, Blake plays the male version of the Williams sisters. Just hit it hard and if that doesn't hurt the other opponent, just give up. I wanna see him fight a little, he looks like he doesn't want to be on the court right now. His demeanor as I'm watching this match right now is the absolute opposite of Nadal.

Blake just got his first game and there was some kind of sarcastic cheer. That's not amusing and I'm sure Blake doesn't find it funny either. He looks p*ssed right now. Maybe it'll get his blood boiling. Cmon Blake. You took Nalby to the house yesterday, you're better than this.

I don't think we have to worry about "Blake will win Master Cup and retirement plans". Bwahahahhahahahahahahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaa

Isn't 27 years old too old for good tennis?

Interesting that you are saying that since just recently you were asking when a 26 year old Venus williams was going to peak.

On the Mens side their are plenty of examples of players playing their best tennis in their late 20s/early 30s.

Pro players live to play grandslams and big events not small ones. The whole premise is ridiculous.
