Least Respected Player On This Board?

Who is the least respected player on TTW?

Andy Murray - pusher who'll never win a slam, no weapons, pusher, ugly, pusher, etc.

Lleyton Hewitt - gets called weak #1, lucky to come before Fedal era, no respect from people on here for how good he was at his peak.

Andy Roddick - same as Hewitt, people forget how good he was 2003-2005 and only judge based on the pusher-esque player he has become. All serve, etc.

Caroline Wozniacki - pusher, doesn't deserve #1, pusher, pusher, etc. :)

Ana Ivanovic - gets called weak #1, but people forget that she earned it by winning RG and making AO final before crashing and burning under the pressure of being #1

Fernando Verdasco - OK I'm a bit guilty here, and the Chokedasco name speaks for itself

Gael Monfils - Gael MonClown

Maria Sharapova - mindless ball basher

Donald Young - a disappointment yes, but you'd think he's never won a match in his life the way folks talk about him

Do you mean the least respected player on the board that deserves more respect than they get or just the least respected player on the board based on his merits (relatively speaking)?

Since his stakes are typically higher, I voted for him. Serena gets alot of unwarranted disrespect IMO.

I would removed Young b/c he didn’t do anything special to deserve respect. Add Jankovic and Safina...not only they NEVER got credit, but got bashed for their #1 ranking.

I think its between Murray, Wozniacki, and Monfils (all happen to have a defensive style...)

Murray: Gets called ugly, immature, bratty a lot (some of which is true), but underrated for his game. Yes, he gets nervous in slam finals but at least he gets there! Some people say he is a crap player when that's clearly not true.

Wozniacki because she is a very consistent player, isn't arrogant at all, and most of all its not her "fault" that she's number 1.

Monfils is sometimes very irritating to watch, but I do think he gets a lot of unneccesary flack. The guy may clown around a bit, but he is still on the verge of top 10 and will most likely be inside it this season. You can't do that if your a total mental midget.

I do not agree with this. The OP is referring to respect about the player’s game and their position.

It has nothing to do with a player’s personality, off court activity or anything about how they carry themselves in public. That’s another topic.

EDIT: Actually, Serena got more respect than she deserve. Why? She played part-time tennis and some members still insist that she should be #1 and only to be robbed by players like Carolina who’s just doing the right thing...play tennis throughout the year.

JBF you really like the negative threads eh.

I pick Young he gets no respect since he's never done much to earn any. A very talented player but immature and doesn't use his brain when he plays.

Definitely Murray. I have heard bad things about him 75% of the time when the topic is about him. It's most probably going to be him.

They way he gets pissed off when he loses a long rally just pisses me off. It's not the end of the world if he loses a point or a game. He throws a lot of points away with his frustration.

I think Verdasco deserves a lot of the criticism he gets on this board. He's always seemed to me like a talented, but extremely spoiled, immature jock with an easily-bruised ego and very little mental fortitude.
