Lux BB ALU broke in 4 hours due to wear... WTF?

Howdy,

I just took a set of ALU Power Ice colored out for two hit sessions which totally about 4 hours. I noticed notching with this string after 2 hours of hitting hard and then around the 4th hour the string broke due to wear.

I had major notching in the strings and was bummed out that the string did not last nearly as long as BB Original. I put 10 hours on BB Original and had to cut the strings due to tension loss. I was hoping ALU would hold tension a little better but it did not even last half as long. :(

I was very careful when I strung my racquet up and the break happened right in the middle of the stringbed where all my strings normally break. There was significant notching on the main that broke as well as most of the other central mains.

Has anyone experienced anything like this with Luxilon strings?

Is there any difference between the Ice color and the grey color?

Yup, I've killed a set once in about an hour and a half. You're playing with a rather open string bed in your racquet. If you hit a ton of spoin, you'll kill it even quicker. In my case, this was back when I was using the silver ALU in my old C-10 Pro Tours. Strangely, I've had the blue last me longer than the silver. But if you want to try a 17 gauge Luxilon, and maybe get better tension maintainence than the BB 8, try the XP. I cannot say how long this will last you compared to the ice blue ALU. In my case, it will last me a bit longer.

I just bought a few packs of Lux BB Orginal Rough in hopes that it will perform like my last pack of this stuff did. After 4 hours with ALU, I think BB Original gave me more of a ball pocketing feel and that is what I really like in a string.

What types of characteristics does XP have? I don't really trust what they have printed on the back of their packaging.
