Moving up from Gravity S

My 16 YO son has been playing with a Gravity S since that came out.

His progress seems to be going fast lately. There is room for improvement on his BH, but FH is just brutal. Huge spin and he’s just pulling the ball down into the court. Great to see, not so great to play against:-D

He’s now looking to upgrade his racquet, but what is the logical thing to do? Gravity MP seems the next step up, from 285 to 295 gram and moving to 100 square inches from the (I believe) 104 of the S.

I’m wondering if the 10 gram increase is enough to make the step he’s looking for. On the other hand, he’ll probably be able to whip the Gravity MP as he does now with the S. With Gravity Tour being 20 grams up from the S, I’m afraid that is too much and will mess up his timing.

Any thoughts?

So what string combo and tensions is he using? Has he experience a growth spurt yet?

If he is not doing poly mains/softer cross hybrids yet, he should start soon. Depending on size, I could advise waiting

Order some demos and include the Gravity MP, Radical MP, Prestige S.

Gravity S is a good racquet. Lead tape would be cheaper and if nothing else inform as to how high of a swingweight (on serve specifically) you could go before you start demoing.

Throwing my 2 cents in, I am currently fond of the Dunlop CX 200 LS & OS for a 10 point increase in swingweight from the Gravity S.

Thanks for the tip. He’ll be testing the Prestige S to start with.

Edit: on strings: he plays with MSV Hex mains and has played with various crosses. Velocity did not last and he is now at Head Sonic Pro. Don’t know the tension of the top off my head. I believe at 25/24 kg or 50/48 pounds.
