great performance by muller. plenty of times in the second set he could folded his tent, but he keep his cool. this kid is for real. tall, big serve, heavy groundys, a lefty, and good touch. and those fox sports announcers, brett haber and lief shiraf, are so much better than espn's.

yeah, i was there, i was quite impressed by his performance. Does anyone know old he is? I'm definately looking foward to seeing him play in some grandslams in the future (even though i wanna see Hewitt win tomorrow)

they said he was 21, comes from a country with very few tennis players, and was the number 1 ranked junior in the world, winning the us open. his poise was remarkable, plying through some close calls, and down some breaks.

Agassi-Muller

It was a very good match and great to see an unknown guy from Luxumburg beat Andre. Muller seemed very star struck and humble after the match...almost as if in shock. He said that if he could beat Agassi, why not Hewitt too? We'll see....
I really thought Andre did a good job running Muller. He seemed in control and dominated much of the match. Agassi just had several doubles and unforced errors...there were some terrific rallies and winners on both sides though too.

I was very impressed with his first set performance and how he hung on in the second set even when Agassi broke him. I would imagine that he feels more at home on clay, but he seemed to be doing plenty well on the asphalt.
However, I don't think he will beat Hewitt, who has a way of almost never losing to lesser opponents when he's mentally focused. But we'll just see.

Muller was the '01 or '02 US Open Jr champ and year end junior #1.

Definitely talented but has the reputation of also going a bit flaky mentally. I'm looking forward to his match against Hewitt.

That was last year.

So Agassi is smelling some revenge here in the final of 2005 LA?

SF:

G. Muller 4 7 6
D. Hrbaty 6 6 1

pretty good.

Muller will not easily fold in the big matches, he defeated R.Nadal at Wimbledon. He has a pretty big lefty serve and some flat groundies.

On the contrary, I think he DOES fold in the big matches...

The Rafael Nadal match - I saw the fourth set of it, where Muller almost ******ed [edit] Why on earth is the word 'sn atched' being censored? [/edit] defeat from the jaws of victory with some lazy-looking errors out of nowhere, but came back with a couple of big serves. And Nadal's claycourt game certainly didn't threaten him on grass.

This should be a pretty good final, but Muller's strengths are certainly his shots and not his mental game. (On another note, I think he *really* struggles with low balls to his forehand, I saw Federer totally dismantle him with that shot. But Agassi isn't going to give that to him. )
