What's up with this guy? Is this a continuation of the AO injury or a new one during practise?

GENEVA (AP) -- Rafael Nadal pulled out of his Davis Cup match on Friday against Marco Chiudinelli of Switzerland because of a muscle injury.

The second-ranked Spaniard will be replaced by Fernando Verdasco in the World Group's first-round match. It was unclear if Nadal could play in a possible return singles on Sunday.

Why would that result in a muscle injury?

some sports news and the dc website reported that he had strained a muscle in training but he said to spanish tv it's just the flu and that yesterday he had 39C temperature .And they just trying to be cautious and he will play in Sunday...

The guy has discovered the bar scene unfortunately. As I said last year, he is a one year wonder. Finished, and he knows it. He knows his silly little game doesn't hold up against the best, and it kills him.

I am not a fan of Nadal, but this is just a ridiculous comment... He is a very good young player (#2 in the world by the way...) and has still plenty of time to improve and get better, which he most probably will

Now whether you like his style of play or his person / attitude, that's another story...

Somethings not.......

Remember last year, when he lost the TMC to Fed he claimed that he had a thigh pull and that is why he lost. Then he played a exo with Fed and lost badly, again claiming a leg injury. The the AO warmup and loses stating that he had a goin pull. Then almost loses to Murry and gets smoked by Gonzo, again stating that he had a leg injury. Now this, anyone see a pattern here???

I stated it last month that if Rafa did have a real groin injuy, that he would not be able to compete at top level for for 6 weeks without re-injury; and here we go again.

What makes it really disturbing is that we don't really know if it's a leg injury or the flu. Although I like Rafa's spirit on court this kind of thing does not put a good light on him. Time will tell the truth.

Exactly. ;)

I wonder if he still has the leg injury he had in the AO, I hope he can be healthy in the clay season so that he could give Fed some competition, or else this year is gonna be all Fed.

If Nadal wins Roland Garros hopefully the haters can stop saying Nadal is falling apart. Watching Wimbledon again was a shock on how different Nadal was playing. His backhand was unbelievable there.

You guys are being too easy on Nadal. If Andy Roddick or Serena Williams said after losses that it was because of a phantom injury you guys would be railing on them. It is suspect to keep claiming that he has a leg injury. If he is that injured he needs to take the time to let it heal.

I am not a big Nadal fan, but I give the man props on clay. He should be ready to dominate on clay once the season starts. But Nadal is showing a lot more vulnerability than I expected at the start of the year. TennezSport is right time will tell.

Just for reference sake, 38C is about 100F. So that is a significant enough fever to warrant a rest day.
