Please suggest me a racket.

Hi, the only racket I own is called head atlantis xl. This is the racket I play with for 2 years but for the last few weeks I used my coach's racket called head liquidmetal instinct xl. My coach suggested I try new rackets and he has six of the same so he lend me one. I like the way it hits the ball when running hard but not when I stand still. I think because when I run hard I use more spin but when I am still I hit harder and my spin is not as much. This is what my coach tells me. I think I hit the ball still more then running. Please suggest a racket that is good for both. Sorry if I don't make sense I did not take much time to revise. If I don't make sense I will try again.

You must tell us more about your game... A racket good for hitting balls on the run versus not on the run is not something I completely understand.

You should consider demoing every racket mentioned in this forum in the last few days...

If you tell us more about your game - your level, your forehand grip, backhand grip, style of play, type of serves, net skills, things like that, we can hopefully give you some decent advise.

Did your coach mention any other rackets for you to try?

Thank you for the fast reply. I need to ask my coach for my level and grips. I can tell you my style of play. I stay one the baseline mostly but my coach say I'm good with volleys but I don't like volleys. I only run to the net when my opponent hits close to the net. My serve is not my good part but I don't miss. My first serve can be spin or not spin but my second is always with spin.
I will try to explain again what I mean the first time. When I run hard I hit the ball good. When I'm still I hit the ball far back usually. My coach say because I hit with more spin when I run and I agree. He told me his racket is not good with out much spin. I will ask him to suggest me more rackets next lesson and ask my level and grips.

So you need a low powered racquet that is easy to create spin with. Sounds like the Prince Original Graphite to me.

Hi python, what is the prince orginal graphite? Is it the same as prince graphite classic? Why low power? I like power. For more about my style I hit my forehand better when running but my backhand better when I'm still and I think I'm fast and I like to hit hard usually.

You said you were having problems keeping the ball in, so I suggested a low powered racquet. High powered racquets require you to use more spin to keep the ball in so it seemed counter-intuitive after your explanation of your game.

Do you hit the ball hard by yourself or do you need help from the racquet? I think from your posts you might just need to get to a pro shop and demo a dozen different racquets of varying classes. That way you know what qualities you want in a racquet.

The Prince Original Graphite is probably the same racquet as the Graphite Classic. It's a green frame with a cross-bar. Thin beamed. Low powered, yet the open stringbed makes it easy to create spin.

When I'm still I think I hit the ball hard by myself. The head instinct xl is high power, correct? It feels more powerful then my racket. I like that. I hit very good when I use spin with it but when I hit less spin I miss. The difference is very big. I want a racket where the difference is not as big. Please tell me if I don't make sense.

I suspect that you might be referring to the super hot sweetspot that the instinct seems to have. I normally wouldn't suggest a racquet I haven't tried but you might want to demo the lm radical. i thought the i.radical (predecessor to the lm radical) had a more consistent stringbed than the instinct. the i.radical was pretty low powered but the lm radical's power level should be right where you want it. reviews say that the lm radical didn't generate spin well though so keep that in mind.

Hello again. After my last post I ask my coach to suggest me some rackets. He told me to play with his racket more first and I did but I still have the same problem after more weeks with his racket. When I told him this he said that the instinct is not so good for hitting the ball flat. He said that you have to come over the ball a lot on every shot, even the easy balls, These are his words. Good for me, he has many rackets. He had the prince original graphite and the lm radical but I tried them and didn't like them as much as the instinct tour xl. The other ones he had were the lm fire, intelligence radical, Ti radical, and flexpoint radical. I tried them all. I like'd them but again not as good as the instinct tour xl. I want to try a racket that is maybe a mix of the instinct and of the lm radical.

I am a flat-hitter, and have found the Yonex RDS001 MP to be great on groundstrokes. The RDS003 is closer to the weight of the 2 you like. I have never hit with one, but I have heard it is a more powerful RDS001 (should be worth a demo)

I know how to hit with spin but when I get a easy ball I want to hit it hard with less spin. Its natural for me. I feel like I hit easy balls better and faster with my old racket.
