I just ordered(from tw of course) babolat pro hurricane(not tour) in 18 gauge.

I currently use pro hurricane tour in the mains at 60 lbs, and addiction in the crosses at 58 lbs...

i wasnted to add some more cotrol and spin to my game and wasnt affraid to sacrifice power...

obviously i got 18g to get the most spin and power i could out of the setup, if my current setup lasts me like a month b4 going dead, how long will this new setup last(b4 going dead)

wat should i expect to change with this new full poly setup?

wat tension should i string it at?

i tried pro hurricane 18g about a year ago in a full bed. im a full poly kind of person. strung it at 58lbs. with the new setup expect more control and a firmer string bed. for me the strings moved around a lot, and they broke in 5hrs. i would string it at 57lbs

Hey Donny,

How is that addiction working in the crosses for you? I understand Bab put teflon in the coating of that string. Have you found that you a) get more spin and/or b) have less string movement than with other crosses? Thanks

i couldnt tell u bout the spin since i have used this setup since getting new rackets in february....

As for the movement, it does not move for the first week or soo, then it moves more than or as much as any other string...

Thanks Donny. Sounds like the teflon layer on the Addiction is pretty thin and gets worn off or scuffed pretty quickly.

As to your original questions. I ran the numbers in TW University's new String Performance Database and found that Pro Hurricane 18 is pretty much the most powerful poly on the market, so you're not going to lose a whole lot in power.

It loses much more tension than Addiction, but because it is, being a poly, much stiffer, the peak tension and peak force at impact is actually almost the same.

This is after playing for a while, so post-tension loss. What this means is that after 3-4 hours of play or so a full bed of Hurricane 18 will feel very similar to a Hurricane 18/Addiction 17 hybrid. Initially it will feel quite a bit stiffer but after that should feel similar.

As far as this "going dead" stuff. I still have no idea what this means. But according to the numbers Hurricane 18 at 58 should feel about the same as your old hybrid after "breaking in".
