Recommend a racket for me?

Hi I'm new to this forum

I have taken up the game of tennis recently after my friends encouraged me to play. I've been playing for about 2 1/2 months now (since mid November, about once a week for 2 hours.

As a badminton player (and a good one at that) I have very good hand eye coordination, so I'm not a typical beginner, although its a completely different game, I have been able to adapt to the game fairly well, and I play at an ok standard.

I have been using a Wilson N code racket. It's not mine, but I quite like it, and wouldn't mind buying one for myself or something similar. I can't really be more specific about it, but I know it's green, and about US$110 when it came out.

I think it's fairly heavy in comparison to another Head racket I tried.

I'm just looking for something that isn't too light, I don't mind about the brand. Thats irrelevant to me.

I have about US$100-140 to spend. Not bothered about brand

Another thing, I can't stand the factory strings on rackets, with badminton rackets i usually at 28lbs (which is fairly high for badminton) I was wondering what is a tension that means that the stringbed isn't loosE? Any badminton players out there that play at similar badminton tension can recommend a tension for tennis rackets? Or anyone?

well, try stringing at 65 lbs or so, as for a racquet, something like a HEAD Instinct might be good, nice all round racquet in a medium sort of weight range.

65lbs!?!?!?
Are you nuts? That is an extremely high tension for someone starting out in tennis.
I would start at 55lb and go from there...

I had been looking at the Yonex RDiS 100 Mid, is this a good racket?

Dunlop Maxply Forte (wood)
Wilson Jack Kramer (wood)
Wilson T-2000 (steel)
Wilson Pro Staff (wood)

PDP (fiberglass)
Head Edgewood (wood with carbon strip)
Pro Kennex Golden Ace (wood with carbon strip)
Head Director (graphite)
Head Professional Composite (mostly graphite)
Prince Triple Threat Attitude (mostly tungsten)

I play 3-4 time a week year-round, inside and out, and consider myself a serious player.
I've now settled on the Prince EXO3 Red (graphite) with a 105 square inch head. It's easy on the arm with lots of power and spin.
Try it; you'll like it.

I would give the Wilson BLX Pro Open a shot. You can get them cheapish now since new ones come out at the end of this month. Really was an amazing racket for me from the 3ish month mark in. All around solid. Best thing you can do is demo a ton of them and just go with what feels right to you.

+1. BLX Pro Open's are cheap, lower $100s. I don't think he can get the Head Microgel for under $150, they don't really sell older brands in cheaper shops.

TW sells teh MG radical for way under 100.00 and I know they ship to NZ...
