String recommendations for Dunlop AG 4D 200 Tour

I'm looking for thoughts on string setup for the AG 4D 200 Tour. I saw one at my local shop on clearance for $45 and couldn't resist, and if I fall in love fast enough they have 2 more in the same grip size.

This is my first experience with an open string pattern, I have always played 18x20. My set up now is PK Redondo Mid 360g full bed BHB7 16 @ 62lbs. I have never found a syn gut or multi set up I liked. I don't like a lot of power.

I am a 4.5-5.0 player and normal ground strokes are pretty flat, but I like to have a lot of access to spin to change up pace and create angles.

Please let me know your thoughts and experiences.

How fast do you go through bhb7? It's a bit too soft for me wheher I pop them or not, but BHBR16 @ 56 or 58 has a ton of controlled spin for me. The tour is a great stick... I'd pick up more of them if I didn't decide to stick to my diablo tours lol.

I'm in the same boat as you, just lower level. Flat hitter who sticks to the baseline to counter punch and take big cuts. Needs spin for really moving the opponent around.

I restring two racquets every week or so, although I have yet to pop bhb7 they're only hanging on by a thread by the time I cut it out. Lately I have been crossing it with big hitter silver and it seems to have extended the life a little. I love how soft the bhb7 is, it's so comfortable even at higher tensions.

I tried the bhb7/BHS at 62 in the 200T and it felt really good. I love how high and large the sweetspot is compared to my redondos, and even in stock form (+leather grip) this thing is a plow monster.

Only bad is that with the open pattern, after an hour of hitting and some serve practice the mains are severely notched. I could definitely feel the strings bite the ball a lot harder and I was getting some insane topspin.

hey hey PK calm down, where all here to help. PV is soft spoken thats all. His reviews are pretty spot on despite what you think of his character. He and many others are an asset in the community and should have his advice taken at least semi seriously.

Unless he blatantly trolls you =D.

OR you could just go out and try every interesting string at every tension and tell us what you think of them.

Oh no, I meant no offense to him.
I have realized that PV really know his stuff and respect his thoughts.

I asked a dumb question on this thread without properly looking at what he posted, and on another thread I asked another dumb question, and he had to correct me.

I have this stick and like BHBR 17 strung in the 40's. For someone who hits more of a flat ball, I would try Scorpion. I found it to be a nice, neutral, predictable string.
