Strings and how long they lost

Here is a break down of the strings so far i broke in the last 2 weeks.

prince psg w duraflex 16- 1.5 hours
alpha gut 2k- 4 hours awesome hours
alpha gut 2k/poly crosses- 5 hours
alpha cross court 16- 5 awesome hours
all other basic syn gut lasts about 1 hour (tecnifiber 16, wilson stamina, etc)

I think i will go back to my gosen polylon 17 soon. I love syn guts and I don;t mind stringing often (takes me 24 minutes) but the cost is getting there already. In the past 2 weeks I broke my strings 9 times. any ideas for some strings to try next ?

You must be using a racquet with a very open string pattern. I would probably try something like problend or even aramid gear. Some kind of kevlar hybrid. Just string the kevlar about 5-10% lower than the cross. I really liked forten thinblend when I tried it. I strung it a bit too tight, but it was a great control and spin setup.

JJ,

I am hard on strings, but nothing compare to you. I get 4-8 hours from Gosen Sheep 17, double that with Prince Syn Gut with D...

jj300, try the 17g poly in the mains with a softer syn gut like Alpha Gut 2K in the crosses. Drop the tension on the mains about 3 lbs. vs the crosses.

I forgot to mention what racket I use. I have the prostaff tour 95. Lead added at 3' and 9' bringing the weight to 12.7 ounces. Gosen syn gut lasted me a full match of 2 hours, but that was the 16 guage. I was trying different strings once I got my new machine but I think I will switch back to my usual combo, same as gaines suggested. polylon 17 mains and either psgd 16 or gosen sheep 16. Thanks guys
