Tennis 'comments', you know, those little snarky responses after something has happened. I'm not sure they were even funny the first time I heard them. They are now clearly tired cliches that need to retire:
Just saving my strings (after hitting a frame shot winner)
Is that about where you want it (trying to lob, but giving the net player an easy put away instead)
Maybe a little left, I had to take a step (response to the above comment)
Take 2 (after a ball comes across before they have even hit a first serve)
Nice fake, I thought you were going to hit it
OUT (pause) of reach
Was that out? (after you hit a ball directly into the back fence)
out, no, let's play it (after an obviously long serve, but you had a nice return)
Long ... Longer (a double fault where the second serve was even more out)
Sorry (after a net cord winner, if you were truly sorry you could just concede the point)
Yours (when a ball is hit in your area, but you can't get to it)
