Tennis racquet bags with best protection against heat

Hi everyone

Just wanted to get an idea whether you have ever done a comparison test on tennis racquet bags and their ability to protect racquets against heat damage.
Many coaches after finishing their work sometimes prefer to leave their gear in a shed where they keep all the balls and nets and sometimes these sheds can get hot and we know this is bad for tennis racquets.
However I have noticed that some bags have better insulation than others,
Have you guys found that some are better than others and which would you recommend?

Thermal protection is short lived in bags due to low R values. There are threads on this where others have reported on their lack of effectiveness. Cold or heat will seep into the bag in less than 30 minutes. Opening the compartment shortens this. Putting a white towel over the bag will be more effective in hot environments. Not much can be done in cold conditions unless you put a warming device inside. You could damage the bag with a warming device.

This. Thermal protection is very overrated.

With this in view, one is reluctant to leave tennis equipment ( racquets) in an aluminium shed despite placing them in a carry racquet bag,
The other day I when I finished working in the morning I did just that and when I came back in the afternoon the racquets were a little warm, so that’s not a great sign.
And from the other weather extreme I left a racquet in a coaching basket that was strung in VS gut and when I came back the following morning the strings had snapped,
You could say the same thing with regards to leaving your racquets in the boot of your car.
I wouldn’t mind doing some experimental research into the different thermo bags that different companies make and take temperature measurements to see whether there are better options out there or not.
In the past I have seen people turn up with racquets damaged from heat with melt cracks in the throat area - so you want to be careful;

So are people suggesting that the silver foil material does not work in reducing the temperature inside a tennis bag or protect racquets ?

I think Al Czervik had a line of golf bags that was very effective. Perhaps something similar could be developed for tennis.

in addition to prior tests showing it's not effective...the stitching on my bag started to come apart, revealing the thermal protection underneath the aluminum surface. turns out it's just a 1/8 inch of foam. that will do absolutely nothing at all. it's only along the sides of the bag. meaning there is plenty of heat transfer and sun absorption through the zipper and top material.

as mentioned, putting a white towel on your bag is about the best you can do, short of bringing a giant cooler with you that has actual insulation.

also, don't buy a dark-colored bag, as cool as an all-blacked out bag might be.

It seems like that would be better than no protection at all, right?

....so as someone who needs a new bag (mine is falling apart and is over 20 years old)...should I not consider whether it has a thermal lining?

Well, I found a bag!

I don't really need one big enough to hold 12 racquets, but both sides are thermal lined. Based on this thread, it wasn't necessarily a requirement; but I'm not going to turn down a bag because it has it!

I got the last one at Adidas and I paid less than 50% of the MSRP. Given the ridiculous price of bags, I'm happy with the deal. Now, I just hope it isn't monstrously large....

Sure it works, but only for a very short period.

I have a black bag (maybe not so smart) so it heats up even quicker than say a white bag would (in the sun).

I don’t leave bags in car/trunk etc so not worried about it much. But might not buy a black bag again. Having said that, it’s a TF bag and has probably lasted me about 10 years at this point, less getting a zipper repaired (2x). I’ll buy another as long as they still use the burly coated material.

Throw a towel over your bag, the thermal pocket protection really does nothing of significant value, in most cases it starts to come off through regular use like in my Adidas 12pk.
