Joaquin Phoenix discussed some of what went into his role as The Joker.

Offering a glimpse into the artistic process, the actor remarked on the inspiration for the character's dance moves. Sure enough, none other than Oz's finest Raven Frightener ftw!

Phoenix spoke of "a certain arrogance to his movements" and incorporating that aesthetic. I love that he discerned hubris in an old vaudeville dance number. (y)

Also lost in excess of 50 pounds for the part, and reveled in the unexpectedly lithe movement capabilities with the gaunt frame.

Excited for this one.

Yeah, I don't watch nearly as many movies as I used to, but there's something about this one.

Looking back, I’m still amazed Joaquin didn’t win the Oscar for Walk The Line and Reese Witherspoon did capture the gold buddy as his co-star. It was all about the competition with PSH cashing for his role as Capote.

Should have given out two.

Yes, but his name at birth in San Juan PR was (eye kid ewe knot!) Joaquin Rafael Bottom. :-D

Poppa’s name was John Lee Bottom but Momma goes by the name Arlyn Heart Phoenix (née Dunetz) and she was the one who chose the following names for her kids:

Leaf (now Joaquin)

Just be careful, I'm hearing that with the very dark theme of the movie, that there could be the potential for lunatics to go and pull off another Aurora shooting massacre like that moron did back in 2012.

Did he win an Oscar for Gladiator back in 2000? I thought he played that role really well, albeit as a cowardly little *****.

The red flag is that DeNiro is in it and all of his recent films have been absolute stinkers.
From the trailer, it looks like his character has no depth and DeNiro is calling it in to collect his paycheck.
