Phoenix spoke of "a certain arrogance to his movements" and incorporating that aesthetic. I love that he discerned hubris in an old vaudeville dance number.
Also lost in excess of 50 pounds for the part, and reveled in the unexpectedly lithe movement capabilities with the gaunt frame.
