Thoughts on Asics GR's

Hey guys,

I had been wearing New Balance 700's/800's model for it's great ankle support for some time and a while back decided to try the Asics GR1.

The GR1's were probably the most comfortable tennis shoe I have ever had. I still wear them around the house, they are like wearing slippers.

I then bought the GR2's and while still a great shoe, not nearly as comfortable as the GR1. I thought that the GR2's were more supportive as far as ankle safety was concerned as opposed to the GR1.

You would think that all GR2's would feel and fit the same way, but I had a pair of the white/orange that were pretty nice right out of the box, and I also had a pair of the black/white, and they were pretty stiff out of the box and to this day I have yet to break them in as they actually hurt my feet.

I am now looking for another pair of shoes and I would love to go back to the NB 800's but the last model, the 804's, the tongue was too short and it caused the laces to rub into the front of my foot. Bad design I think.

So, unless NB comes out with a new model soon, I will probably go with the Asics GR4's. Can anyone who as owned all Asics GR models compare the 4's with the other models I have mentioned? I never did get a chance to try the GR3's.

Thanks.

I just bought a pair of GR4s last week. I can't compare them to any other GRs b/c I've been in Vapors for years. I made the switch b/c my pro shop was out of Vapors and I liked the GR4s fit better than the Ballistics they had. Played with them twice so far and really loving it, I only wish the sides came up a little further on ankles. I have narrow feet but I can get these pretty snug.
