Toy machines

I have noticed that on one of the other stringer message forums that the agnas, Mutual Power and Klippermate machines are called "toy machines" What do you guys think? Is it possible to get a professional quality stringing machine from any of these machines?

It's a matter of degees. The Neos is a "toy" machine compared to some of the machines (ie. the Babolat Expert) that some of the those guys have.

I always think of the Tremont as a toy machine. There's some new English-thing too, supposed to fit in your pocket or something, gizmo.

I've heard of the Molstring brand where the racquet is never actually clamped but you attach and pull one string at a time. Has a digital tension scale and a quick hand crank.

I wouldn't consider Mutual power a toy, it has some decent features over the klippermate

I've heard them referred to as "hobby" machines. This term is used to distinguish between machines than are used by those who string a small volume of racquets, usually for self, and the professional machines that are used for higher volume. It is believed the professional machines are more consistent and produce consistently better results due to their construction and the engineering behind them.

Was that the machine that had the little crank for tension? I never used one, but I remember one of my friends bought one. It took forever to string a racket.

Yeah, the Tremont had the crank that took about 20-30 turns just to tension a string. AND then you had to uncrank to return the gripper to original position. I rigged up my cordless drill to wind and unwind before I sold it for a drop-weight.

That sounds like a pain to use....even with the drill winding and unwinding ;)

Depends on the model

I got by with a Klipper for years but it is a flimsy toy. The Eagnas 840 that I'm using now is a solid tank by comparison.
